Making of "Scream"
Added 2020-02-11 18:20:19 +0000 UTCMy 5yo gets frustrated at everything. My 3yo has started to follow suit, but he still can't hold a candle to my 5yo's wrath when things don't work his way! I'm constantly jarred by yells from the other room. Thankfully, you get to know your child's various "brands" of scream, so as blood curdling as it sounds, I know he's just pissed and not really hurt.
I've done a lot of complicated strips lately, so I was eager to do this simple 2 panel one to regain some ground. It was all going well until I hit the bonus panel!
My initial thought was to show something ridiculous Vincent had tried to do, like build too tall a block tower, or fly with an umbrella like Mary Poppins. Turns out it's surprisingly hard to draw the aftermath of something and make it clear what it was before. Plus I couldn't have it look like he really *might* be hurt.
I asked my friends for help and one of them said he'd had an airplane mode gag in the chamber for a while for his comic, but thought it would work perfectly here!
