Making of "Outside"
Added 2020-02-18 18:08:15 +0000 UTCIt's always such a pain in the arse to get little kids ready to go outside when it's cold -and then, like my 5yo did the other day, they get out there, realize it's cold and want to go back inside. There's obviously some overlap here with pets constantly wanting to go in and out -imagine if we had to get them dressed every time! I had to make this a strip! :)
I always see strips as animations in my head and for this I saw it as quick little cuts like the famous "gearing up" scene in Evil Dead. Drawing all those closeups and hands was a nightmare and required a bunch of reference photos, but I knew I needed a lot of panels to sell the joke.
For a little while I had her looking worried in the 1st panel -after all, shes a cat too! But it weakened her surprise in the end, so I changed her back to optimistic.
