Making of "Lookalike"
Added 2020-08-27 19:19:14 +0000 UTCWe've always had a bit of a giggle at the Creeper toys in Target -I mean, LOOK AT THEM! π
But the idea for this one didn't actually start there. 6yo had a Minecraft birthday, so we got him a Creeper piΓ±ata. The photo I posted to Facebook was not at a terribly "flattering" angle and a friend messaged me to confess that he thought it was a dick at first! π
That prompted me to add a comment to the photo saying " Creeper piΓ±ata! (I know they look like dicks, but you have to just learn to ignore that once your kid gets into Minecraft)". My Aunt replied saying my nephew has a Creeper plushie that he takes to bed which is always a bit weird. That's when it dawned on me that it was comic material!
The comic was pretty quick to draw. It would have gone quicker, but I had to make sure 6yo didn't see what I was doing. I knew if he saw a Creeper he would NEED to know the joke and if he knew the joke then he would not be able to stop telling EVERYONE the joke! π¬ So I had to work on this one while he wasn't near and then quickly tab to another comic if he started to approach.
I had finished the comic completely when J suggested different faces for the parents. I asked him to draw what he meant and LOVED them!
