Making of "Be Cool"

Me: I have a headache! Can you guys just be cool?!
6yo: Yeah, but you mean good, right? Not cool clothes?
Me: No. Not cool clothes. But you just gave me a great idea for a comic!
I wanted to rough this out quickly to see if such a silly idea would work, so I used the linework of them fighting from Boy Fights. It got a chuckle out of J, so ONWARDS!
I wanted to show as much of their cool clothes as possible, so I made them fight in a way that didn't obscure much. Then it was a case of googling a LOT of "cool" reference pictures; "90s cool", "80's cool", "cool toddler", "cool leather jacket" "cool sunglasses" etc etc
I was done and asked my friends if they had any better ideas than me for the bonus panel. One suggested having them skateboarding off ramps and doing more cool stuff, which was more than I was prepared to draw, but I liked the skateboard idea! I was about to add one under Vince's outstretched arm, when I realized that putting them BOTH on skateboards would look even more ridiculous!
