Let me start by saying, one of my favorite things about being a parent is answering questions. Being asked a science question and having to figure out a way to frame the answer in a way a kid will understand and then having them get it, is hands down, THE BEST feeling!
However, most kid questions are what I call "trash questions". Asking for things, being lazy about thinking for themselves, asking something and not actually caring about the answer. A few hours of this noise jamming up your own thoughts and you are ready to POP!
I had a day like this and eventually said:
Me: Please stop talking! I’m tired of answering!
6yo: ...all my questions?
He hadn't realized what he'd done, but the irony made me chuckle.
I wasn't sure if it would work in a comic or not, so I sketched it out quickly with placeholder questions. It got a laugh out of J, so I pushed forward.
I originally didn't have plans for a bonus panel, as they'd all essentially died, so I thought; FIN. But then 6yo comes sidling up to me and tells me he has an idea for a bonus panel. He described them post explosion, with the mom's head blown off. That seemed a little OTT, but then I suddenly thought what if at the moment he asked just ONE MORE question?! 3yo has been insufferable asking for snacks lately, so I made it "Is it snack-time?" I showed this to J and he switched it to "So, candy? Yes or yes?"
So you might say the bonus panel was a family collab! :)
