Making of "I Got This"
Added 2021-06-10 18:26:14 +0000 UTCThis happened the other day (albeit a bit more jokingly) and we were discussing how to turn it into a comic.
J wrote down the script from his perspective, so Dad Cat was in the bathroom instructing the boys, then leans out of the doorway to give a cheerful thumbs up to a horrified Fran, who's still sitting on the couch.
We toyed around with a double joke, where Fran is giving a thumbs up back. This was funny, but as a mom who has to share a toilet with boys, I just couldn't imagine a universe where she would be pleased! π
Playing it from J's perspective animated brilliantly in my head, but there was no way I could do it without adding more panels, and way more complicated panels at that!
I rewrote the script from MY perspective, focusing on the expressions and leaving the rest up to the imagination. I didn't want to lose Dad Cat's reassuring thumbs up, so I moved it to the bonus panel.
For the final panel I referenced this amazing face by "Crab Man"
It's been interesting to see the results since posting. "Sword Fight" is known by others, but also by other names like "Lightsabers", "Don't Cross The Streams" and "Ghostbusters". Part of me wishes I'd known so I could have pick a less "creepy" name ("sword fight" can also mean some pretty inappropriate things!) but then I also quite like how innocent it is that little boys don't know any better. π
