Making of "Bad Reviews"
Added 2021-07-09 16:10:37 +0000 UTCThis one came about because I was driving myself insane trying to find lights on Amazon. I've been aware of my flawed online shopping habits for a while, but it suddenly struck me I probably wasn't alone. Cue #relatable comic!
I made it about car seats because the "MY KID COULD DIE IF I GET THIS WRONG!!" factor, really amps up the insanity when digging through reviews.
I had panels 3 and 4 from the same angle, but getting Joel's pose right in 3 was hard, plus I was ending up with a lot of empty space above them, which I really hate. I changed the angle so it was easier AND more fun.
I jump on any excuse for fun lighting, so I originally had Fran up-lit in all the panels. I loved how it looked, but it gave the game away too early on. I changed it to just be in the last panel, so it looks like her crazy has gone up a notch.
I had 2 ideas for the bonus. My other one was to have Joel with a little angel and devil on his shoulders. One saying "You should tell her that doesn't make any sense" and the other rushing in "DO NOT DO THAT!!!"
I went with the Pepe Silvia Meme instead because I'd been wanting an excuse to do it for a while. People were asking if the cigarette means she smokes, but it was just in there because Charlie has one in the meme. I asked J if I should leave it out, but both agreed it was funnier having it in there -like she'd REALLY gone off the deep end.
