This one pretty much went exactly like comic above -except J lowered 6yo to the ground in disgust, rather than yeeting him. We figured having him chuck him would make it pretty funny, but I worried people might take it all too seriously. The key was making the 3rd panel as silly as possible and realizing that if people DID get offended, I could assure them that he'd land on his feet. 😁

I messed with the words quite a bit. The 1st version above is truest to what was actually said, but without Fran preset in the 1st frame, it made it look like Joel was talking to Vincent, which was a bit weird.

J really wanted Fran to say "We ran out of hot dog buns." (which is what I actually said) but I pointed out it could look like Joel was so upset about the hot dog bun situation he no longer cared about Vincent! J figured out we could make it work if Joel asked a question in the 1st panel.

Right at the end, I realized the ended was stronger without Joel's "Aw, what?!"

So often these simple ones are a word puzzle that needs to be solved!
