Making of "Miracle"

During the main event there's contractions too, which are their very own level of hell, but that "needing to push" thing you hear about is 100% the same as "I gotta poop". I wasn't warned about this and I remember an intense desire to run to the loo real quick before we started getting the baby out!
You often do poop as well. You worry you'll be embarrassed, but by the time it happens you have other concerns and don't give a shit (pun very much indented!)
I got to recycle Fran's linework from Opinions which made this comic faster. Picking an animal for the pregnant mom was tricky though. I wanted a mammal, so they could be obviously preggers, but they couldn't be too large, otherwise you might not notice the tummy.
I asked for suggestions on Twitter, but a lot of them were either animals I'd drawn already, which could get confusing, or ones that had their own unique traits which would make good comics themselves -eg Possum, Platypus, Sloth. I needed an instantly recognizable, skinnyish mammal which wasn't too interesting.
Ringtailed lemur fit the bill visually, so I did a quick google check to make sure they weren't too interesting. Turns out they are a bit interesting! They have a female dominated society and scientists aren't exactly sure why, because unlike hyenas, they aren't larger than the males. After getting lost down an internet rabbit hole (lemur hole?) I decided this factoid didn't get in the way of this comic, so I moved forward.
