Making of "Feelin' Festive"

I'll often forget this one exists, so I'll sometimes discover some lost gems. I must have come up with this idea in December, when it was too late to be useful. Reading it this year made me audibly snort, so I knew I was onto a winner!
I'm the one that puts the decorations up, so my 1st rough had Joel accusing her of rushing to do it so she could eat cookies. The phrasing and art was clunky though. I try to avoid having them both just sitting there, so I thought, how about him putting the decorations up? This added a whole new level to the joke! The idea that she's just been sitting there, staring at the cookies, waiting until he'd put up a sufficient number of decorations -perfect!
I was originally going to repurpose her cookie dough eating face from The Diet Starts TODAY Bonus Panel, but I decided it would be funnier if she was kind of "inhaling" the whole plate. I'm famous among my friends for my sweet tooth, but I honestly can't eat too much these days or I'll get a tummy-ache. That's one of the wonderful things about her being a cat, I can really push the boundaries of what's funny -and maybe live a little vicariously through her too! :)
