Our dog goes MENTAL when he sees anyone outside. I always joke that he's outraged that the neighbors are daring to *exist* in front of him again. I imagine if he was human, he'd be a nosey neighbor, always checking out the window and reporting minor infractions to the HOA. This is where this comic started. It was going to be them outraged at something happening outside, but I hadn't figured out what yet. Maybe the neighbors taking out their trash? Or the mailman or garbage truck?
I took the unfinished comic to J to see which direction he preferred. He suggested they be angrier at the beginning, but then do that wave and "thank you!" that everyone does to mailmen. He then drew me this sketch of how he thought the last panel should look:

Initially he drew the mail carrier as a horse, but I took the piss out of how it didn't look like a horse, to which he (jokingly) got cross, scribbled out the horse bits and turned him into a bald eagle (to match the USPS logo) 😆
The kids were home, jamming my brain, so I asked J to write me a bunch of angry stuff for the dogs to shout. It didn't really matter who said what, so I just arranged it in the most convenient way for the speech bubbles.
I hadn't drawn either dog from the front before, so that was slightly challenging, but I knew it would make for a striking 1st panel having the reader feel they were shouting at them.
For the 2nd and 3rd panels I got to recycle/edit old linework, which I'm always a fan of. Work smarter, not harder!
The last panel took a lot of time. Backgrounds are always a pest! I googled "woman picking up parcel" to get some pose references for Bunny.
