My camera roll is filled to the brim with embarrassing photos of myself, posing for drawing reference pictures. A while ago I made a goal that I'd release some if I hit 200 patrons. I deleted it later and intended to just start adding them to the "making of" posts, but largely forgot to.
A couple of you recently reminded me of it, and as you've all been so patient with my hiatus this month, it seems only fair that I comply! Please be advised, I REALLY try to pull my face into the most extreme expressions! I don't normally have that many chins! Also please excuse the background mess! Our bathrooms are a disaster. 😅
I've tried to pair up the photo with the comic where I could, but some are out-takes, as I usually take a few different options.
I have to get quite creative with props because the characters hands are much smaller than my own. So when a character needs to hold a spoon, I use something bigger, like a hairbrush.
As I'm taking them myself I have to pose 1 hand at a time, so there's often 2 photos for every pose. I could ask J to take the photos for me, and sometimes I do, but I prefer to just do them myself because then I can make sure the angle is just right and go all out on the expressions without feeling embarrassed about anyone watching -although that is somewhat backfiring on me right now! 😅
