Making of "Dr. Tickles"
Added 2022-05-20 14:36:23 +0000 UTCThe kids were blowing up over stupid stuff and J was managing to cheer them up with some tickles. I can't remember what was frustrating me -I was in the kitchen, so it couldn't have been a printer, but I saw him approaching from the corner of my eye and saying something along the line of the comic. Angry at whatever I was angry at, I snapped "I'm a different one!" That made us both laugh and J pointed out it would make a good comic!
J gets angry at people, but I get angry at THINGS. I cannot stand a badly designed thing, be it a contraption or a user interface. Printers fall squarely in this category, so much so that I'll text J to warn him if I'm battling with one.
I attempted to get away with this 2 panel:
-but quickly realized I needed to show the set up of him tickling the kids.
I had a lot of fun drawing the tickling panels! I really wanted to make them heartfelt. I found these reference pictures on Google to base the poses on:
I had Vincent crying originally, because honestly our oldest can get that frustrated while gaming, but I took it out because it seemed over the line of embarrassing him.
I changed Fran's pose in the last panel so she looks like she's whipping round to snap at him. I'm going to save the "ready to pounce" pose for later on though, because that was a good one too!
