Making of "The Spot"

I started work on a different dog comic for this month. I got to neat-ish pencils, but the flow wasn't quite right. It's a good gag and I didn't want to tell it the wrong way, so I halted where I was and scrambled for another idea.
A good place to start with these is to imagine how dog behaviors might affect people. I thought about how their legs go mad if you scratch them in the right spot and how someone might use that to their advantage. Cheating on daily steps immediately sprang to mind!
At first I had the script playing out the other way around -her looking her Fitbit and asking hubby to scratch her behind her ear to catch up. Thankfully I realized it would be a MUCH better joke if I flipped it around! Start with a "Urrmmm what's going on...?" gag and then hit again with her Fitbit logic!
