Sorry I've been away so long. Had planned on starting up again at the beginning of January, but then a Fiasco happened!
People often assume I chose cats for my comic because I'm a cat-person, when actually, all these years, I've only owned dogs! Why'd I pick cats then? Because they're so expressive! Their eyes, tails and fur communicate the inner turmoil of parenting so much better than any other animal could.
My dog, Link, passed a couple of years ago. With the kids being so much to handle, I didn't feel like I had enough love left for another creature, so we continued on with just my husband's dog Captain Harlock. As the kids have grown more independent I have found myself with some spare love and this summer I suddenly found myself wanting a cat. The problem was, hubby and I are allergic to cats!
I did some research on breeds that are good for allergy sufferers, with the right temperament and zeroed in on Devon Rex. I started following a breeders Instagram and felt like a newborn kitty was my dude. I'd check her page obsessively for updates so as soon as reservations opened I swooped in, only to be told he had been reserved since before he was born! π
Crestfallen, I assumed it was not to be, but on Christmas Day she emailed me to say his family had fallen through and would I still be interested? π
We picked him up at the beginning of January and named him Fiasco! Having a new kitty about has proved to be quite the distraction! Purrs are so much more powerful than I realized! Anyway, alls that to say, sorry for the radio silence, but I'm back to drawing and getting LOTS of ideas from my new 4 legged muse!
