Making of "Diet Hack"

I LOVE Cheetos!  I could eat those knobby orange sticks forever if they weren't so terrible for me!  While ordering a Firehouse Sub, it struck J that they were the "healthy" choice of chip, because he knew he wouldn't get to eat many of them!

For the comic version I upped the ante!  I made it so he wouldn't get to eat ANY of them (instead of many) and I added the kids for maximum silly faces.  They like Cheetos too, but at a normal kid-level, rather than the insatiable hunger I have.

A lot was riding on the expressions in the last panel.  I initially had them throwing the Cheetos into their happy faces but as J's always describing me as "inhaling" them, I wanted to up the intensity.  I looked online for inspiration and found these:

I gave Vincent a vacuum mouth and had Fran and Cooper doing their own things, which were cute, but not nearly as funny!  I wondered if I could get them all Kirby-ing the chips in unique enough ways.  Fran was easy enough, but Cooper's little paws couldn't reach!  By then the bag had ended up tipped in his direction so I decided to go full Pingu and have him sucking up the Cheetos from where he was.
The real glory of this one came when I added the Cheeto dust at the very end!  I knew I'd nailed it then! :D

As for why it's Subway and not Firehouse Subs; Subway is more universal.  I've been to Subway restaurants in the US and the UK and they are exactly the same.  I had considered drawing the enormous veggie mural they always have, but realized all I needed was the yellow/green arrow logo.  I looked at the proper logo real quick and then looked away and drew it poorly from memory.

I needed a parody of Cheetos too, so I though Cheesos.  Then I remembered I'd drawn a bag before in "Back up", so I went to grab it and blow me if it didn't already say "Cheesos"!  I'd clearly ridden the same train of thought before!
