Making of "Leaf"

I had this idea too late last year so I had to sit on in. Not being a coffee drinker. I personally notice the changing of the seasons not from the pumpkin spice, but from the influx of pumpkin spice COMICS! 😆 I thought I'd forth-wall that a little by having Joel try for the punchline, only to be mobbed by the real joke!
This one was an easy setup, but I tweaked it a bit as I went. Joel was sitting originally -I'm not sure why, it just seemed weird to have him standing there, but then I got to the last panel and thought it would be more fun to have them surrounding him, so I stood him up.
As the comic progressed the kids inched further and further up Joel's arms, letting me pull the camera in closer for bigger characters (one of my rules!)
Trying to draw a branch from memory proved harder than I thought, so I brought in a clipart one for reference. After some trial and error I managed to add the high camera perspective I wanted to the first panel. Then rest went easy apart from some playing around at the end with the background color. I eventually decided to go with purple and orange for a Halloweeny feel!
