Making of "Earworm"
Added 2024-02-29 17:20:22 +0000 UTCAfter that announcement I was going to draw a comic (without the stress of HAVING to think up a bonus panel!) but my iPad is downstairs and a cat is sitting on me, so I guess it's a good time to get caught up with these making ofs! 😅
This comic was further down my to-do list, but then we showed the kids "Man's Not Hot" by Big Shaq and it was all anyone sung for the next week!
I can't remember the earworm that got me to write this one down initially, but I believe the conversation was reversed. *I* was the dumbass that wanted to show the kids and J was the one that hushed me! For some reason it seemed more appealing to flip them around -I'm still not exactly sure why, but J concurred.
I always love having Fran & Joel snuggled up together, but it's always a nightmare because of their ridiculous proportions. At the beginning of the video you can see me start trying to do it, but then a bell went off in my head that I'd done this before! Nearly 2 years ago I did a comic called "Evening Plans" where I took ages drawing them cuddled up on the sofa, only to scrap it and re-draw them standing. My consolation was that one day I'd be able to use the pose -and finally that time had come! I brought in the old linework and reworked it slightly so they could be looking at a phone.
Now I had the hardest pose down, I worked backwards to make the other panels fit. I added some dramatic shadows to panel 3 to up the intensity and a glow to their faces and eyes at the end to make the moment a bit more magical.
OK, cat has left, so I'll get back to the new comic!
