Making of "Foolproof" (Part 2)

This was a 2 pager right from the start, so I decided to make it split at the time skip. I wanted as many visual similarities as possible and had previous linework of Vince reading a book on a beanbag, which seemed very 80's, so I gave the same beanbag to kitty Joel and had him reading a comic.

I asked J what comics he used to read and he said Thundercats and Transformers. Thundercats seemed like a good bit, but all their comic covers looked complicated to draw -especially when I'd have to redesign the characters to be actual cats. I decided to go with Transformers instead because all I'd need to do is make their "ears" a little longer! I started tracing a Bumblebee cover at first, but realized the red background wouldn't pop on Joel's red clothes. I tried to change the background color, but it just didn't look the same, so I started over with an Optimus Prime cover I found.

I try not to be too precious with tracing things like this and I purposely weirded up the title because I'm never sure where the legal line is there! I didn't really think much about the subject matter and how Optimus is being all Megatronny! Perhaps I should have left the pile of robots in at the bottom to make it clearer, but I'd already spent longer than I should of on a tiny detail and just wanted it done!
