Making of "Homewrecker"

This comic took FOREVER, not because it was hard, but because I'm sneaky! When I do "magic ruining" comics, I have a "safe" comic I can tab to every time the kids wander over. So when I was working on Don't Touch and Believer I had this comic on the go as well! Thankfully my kids were too busy with their own things to notice that it took DAYS to color! 😂

The idea came about because I'd used the term "Godzillad" to describe the state of my kids gingerbread houses a couple of years ago. The Elf brought them one of those little town packs where they get a couple of mini houses each and I let them go to town (ha!) on them! The results were a big mess, happy kids and me writing down the idea about Godzilla and gingerbread houses!

The additional hook for this one came from J suggesting Vincent could have jumped up on the counter and ruined the house, like an actual cat might! I must say, owning REAL cats now has really paid dividends in ideas haha!

I needed Fran to have a reason to have left the house unguarded before taking a photo, so I had her bringing in a bigger camara, rather than just snapping a pic with her phone.

I've been trying to think of ways for Vincent to be more likable. I feel bad for my oldest because all the naughty things he AND his brother do are often told through Vincent! Sweet things usually don't make funny comics, so he's ended up a bit more villainous than I intended! The real life kid would never just start munching on a prone gingerbread house, so although the Godzilla solution is more my logic, it seemed fair to give it to Vince!

For the Godzilla I thought it would be fun to make it a toy of Matt Franks design from Epic Teamup. I traced over an actual Godzilla toy and added details from Matt's design. It wasn't perfect, but I figured those toys are often a bit wonky compared to the source material!
