Making of "Believer"

I did a similar thing as a kid (which I illustrated in this Patreon exclusive comic) so I can't recall if this was based on that, or if my oldest took after me with his illogical Christmas logic -I wouldn't be surprised!
There's a weird period inbetween kids believing in Santa and not, where they both do and don't believe (Schrodinger's Santa?). My guys are there right now and I suspect they know, but at the same time they haven't said anything and sometimes they still act like they are none the wiser!
This comic is similar to Bustin' where it's all about the characters reactions, so I similarly made the panels wide to include everyone. I realized I had a problem with the 2nd panel, because I needed the parents reaction before Vince's, so I chopped it in half so Vince could be on the right.
I played around quite a lot with Fran and Joel's expressions, trying to get them as funny as possible. I was really proud of their interaction at the end, because initially I just had them doing a basic stunned sort of look, but after drawing Fran squinting in the panel above, it felt like she'd be desperate to correct him in the end. Although I wouldn't go as far as accidentally ruining Santa myself, I thought "what would happen if I did?" -and the answer was J would see it coming and stop me! π
Once I was done, I realized it didn't look like a Christmas comic, so I borrowed the lights from Feelin' Festive to, well; festive it up!
