This one sort of happened the other day. 10yo is very insecure about his art and thinks we're lying to him about how good it is -"You're my PARENTS! You HAVE to say it's good!!" Hubby and I are both artists and always tell each other the truth about our art so that we can improve. I relayed this to 10yo by saying "In this family we don't blow smoke up each others arses!" to which he understandably replied "WHAT?!"
We then went down a fascinating internet rabbit hole about the history of the phrase (long story short, they used to think tabaco enemas helped drowning victims) and me being me, I saw another potential "Hyena Birth" hit comic!
I made Vincent madder than our 10yo had been, because it was a better visual (and kiddo can get like that, just not this time!) I didn't reveal what they were looking at on the phone so the reader would have to Google the "punchline" themselves, like with the hyena one -I love "interactive" comics!
I really wanted to use some of 10yo's art for the paper at the beginning, but with him being sensitive about it right now, I didn't think posting something for the world to see would be met with appreciation! He draws a lot of grim reapers, so I drew a kitty one myself in a rough style.
