Making of "Have a Nice Day"
Added 2025-03-07 14:53:26 +0000 UTCJ said we should throw away a plastic bag because our youngest might see the "This is not a toy" warning as a challenge! A comic idea was born!
The hardest thing was drawing the wretched plastic bag! The only bags I had were firmer, reusable ones that didn't hang right for reference photos. I tried asking Grok to generate some reference photos, but getting the bag to hang right seemed beyond him too! All that was left was for me make it up as I went along. I thiiiink I did ok, considering? :)
I started with 3 panels in the middle with Coop looking in the bin a moment before reaching in. J suggested having him rummaging around a bit more like a cat and drew me a cute picture to go from.
Just when I thought I was done, I found something bothering me! With just him and the bag at the table, it felt more like he was treating the bag as a friend rather than a toy -I also realized I'd forgotten the bag's hat! So back to the linework I went, adding the hat and inviting some more toys to the party!
I was really pleased with the happy accident of the bag saying "Thank You" at the end. Too stinking cute!
