Making of "Six-Pack"

This was a real conversation between my husband and our youngest. I tweaked the language a little to make Cooper sound younger. The real kid had a distinct speech impediment when he was little, which I can still remember well enough to write with.
Whenever I'm drawing Joel & Coop together the challenge is always bringing them close enough so they can talk. The obvious answer is to have Joel holding Coop, but then I need to make sure the comic looks different enough from previous comics like Cutest. For this one I made a big deal about zooming in on Coop -and the background the teal instead of usual pink.
I went back and forth a bit on how to break up the conversation between panels. At one point this resulted in me flipping all the characters so their speech bubbles didn't get tangled up. I'll always opt to rearrange the characters if it can make a comic easier to read.
