It's definitely been a hot minute since I indulged in showcasing an enormous, well-engineered (and well-filled!) 'Blimp' Bra! Thankfully, Lori here is more than willing to demonstrate her most recent garment. She explains more in her exclusive interview.
Upscaling a bra to such contain, and more importantly support such enormity is quite a challenge, if I'm truthful. Initially, as breasts grow larger, developing a bra tends to be largely concerned with fighting gravity; that is, helping to lift and support the breasts, as well as contain and somewhat control them. As those breasts grow larger, the fight against gravity grows with it, as we try and find different methods to sustain support from an often modest figure. Essentially the concern is keeping the bearer of such a large bosom mobile and active to some degree - to improve the quality of life as much as possible.
However, if those breasts continue to get really, really large we find ourselves fighting the same foe, but in a different aspect. With Lori, for example, we are no longer concerned with her breasts pulling her forward, or making it difficult to stand. Our task is to now simply try and lift the damn things off of the ground in the first place, to once again aid in some mobility and independence. Once again, we're fighting gravity, and for this we need a bra that not only contains the breasts, but can provide additional features to allow further assistance.
To those of you familiar with BrasByDesign, you'll at least recognise the shackles placed at regular places around the cups. These are designed to be lifted using slings or straps that would generally be lifted by a hoist or crane (such as with Gantry Girl or To the Weighing and Measuring Dept). Those lifting points also aid in both the fitting and removal of such oversized items of lingerie, especially the much larger examples such as this one.
There are also the 'Control Handles' that you can see Lori gripping with determination. They're often nicknamed 'Parade Straps' in the BrasByDesign Facility, because they are akin to the guide ropes used to assist in guiding Parade Blimps during carnivals, and, many would agree that they are just about as useful, or not. Even so, they allow the wearer (or sometimes the staff) to gain just a little more control of what are essentially two huge, heavy, fleshy balloons - especially when they are elevated and only supported by the lifting straps and the often comparitively modest figure of the wearer.
Another issue that can arise - almost quite literally - is when the breasts start to exceed the height of the bearer herself. Before this point, breasts traditionally sit infront of the bearer, below the nackline, but as they grow larger, despite spreading, they will eventually gain height, too. This eventually leaves the excessively-endowed young lady often facing a deep wall of cleavage that threatens to consume her. Containing the breasts in a bra only serves the exacerbate the issue, especially once it is lifted by a hoist or crane. Whilst the wall-of-boob issue can't be completely overcome, features such as a the heavy-duty adjuster that intersects the décolletage does help to somewhat reduce the risk of a 'boob avalanche' when the bra is raised.
Like most bras, there are also the usual features incorporated to try and keep the garment feeling somewhat feminine - at least as feminine as something of this scale and purpose can attempt to be. There are the little bows and substantial expanse of lace panelling that try their best to offset the bra straps that take up almost the entire width of Lori's slender shoulders.
Now, bumping into Lori wasn't purely by chance. If you're wondering why she's thinking about Penny, one of BrasByDesign's pioneering test subjects, it is because Lori is one of her biggest fans (almost literally, I guess). In fact, it was feature about Penny in Vast Magazine that inspired Lori to follow her dream of developing record-breaking breasts!
