Finally back in the saddle, also, Mrs Corvin is an American, now.

This has been a long, brutal, almost 2 months for me.

But I think the storm is finally over and I can just buck down and work my ass off from now until the foreseeable future...thank God.

Today was the last big disruption I am expecting for a while: I drove my wife 3.5 hours away, so she could be sworn in as a US citizen. It was at a weird time, and I keep weird hours, so I am currently running on Red Bull... but the sacrifice paid in caffeine and brain cells was worth it.

And like I said, now I'm in the clear. Yay!

For those who have not seen my other notes, basically, I got hit hard by life since DragonCon. First, DragonCon was a lot of fun, but I can't really get much done there. I try, but It's hard to edit when I've been drinking mystery liquor that Matt Dinniman gets handed by Dungeon Crawler Carl fans (they give him some excellent stuff, too.)

Anyway, I got super sick after DragonCon, for like two weeks. Then the big hurricane hit, and my state lost power. We were without power for a week-ish, and I didn't get internet back for 4 more days after that.

My mom bought me a generator for Christmas, which was super nice of her, and the only way to buy stuff was with cash at the time, so it kind of saved my bacon...literally.

/Then/ the new hurricane hit Florida, and some of my in-laws from Florida evacuated to my house, and I had little children and lots of chaos happening in my house for like 6 days. By Chaos, I also mean my wife and in-laws bawling, sure their sister (who refused to evacuate) was going to die.

I'm actually a mix of introvert and extrovert now, but...my home is my workspace. Imagine trying to work with a 7 year old squeaking a squeaky toy, playing with a dog, while others are talking loudly and staying up during hours you usually sleep.

By this point, I hadn't really slept right in a month.

But wait, there's more! About 10 days after that, I had to drive my mother across the entire United States, a 36 hour drive (in perfect conditions). She is elderly, with two elderly dogs, and was following me in her car while I drove a 20' Uhaul truck.

That was hell. It took us 7 days to get to our destination. Then I stayed a few more days to see my family there, and catch a flight back.

My flight got cancelled due to weather. Luckily, I got a different, later one, which just ended up doubling my flight time.

Since then, I've had a few days, but I kept thinking about this drive today, trying to fix my sleep for it...and it didn't work. Some of you might relate to being nocturnal, and sometimes just staying up longer instead of going to bed so you can be on time to things in the morning. This usually works for me, but for whatever reason, it just didn't work this time.

whew!

Anyway, I've been reassured by friends and family that I won't have any more disruptions until, like Feb. unless someone gets cancer or gets in a car accident, so now it's work time.

Thank you all for your patience until now. I can't really complain, because the last event to cap off all of this stuff is my wife becoming a citizen and registering to vote, which is super rad, but it will be good to get back into work mode and regain some momentum.
