“Master, it’s time to awaken.”

The day begins with Occisor’s smiling, handsome visage peering down upon you. The Sword of the Morning in his human form is clad in his typical, well-fitted butler suit, which outlines his well-muscled form with ease. You’re greeted by his smile first thing in the morning as always and you return it. How can you not when he is your most trusted partner?

Pushing away your covers, you enjoy the artificial sunlight upon your skin for a moment as you stretch away the kinks from your few hours of sleep.

Occisor hums in approval at your bedside, before offering you a towel, which you take in had when you leave your bed.

“I’ve prepared a bat for you, Master. Breakfast will be along shortly.” Occisor bows from the waist and you idly strike him with the towel. Your partner laughs and shakes his head. Scarlet eyes gleam while teeth as white as pure porcelain flash. Idly, wearing only the towel in your hand, you remind Occisor that he’s not to call you Master. “Oh? Someone’s energetic this morning. Usually, I can have my way with you when you’ve just awoken, Li.”

Your nights are long and arduous, filled with the need for extended endurance and the straining of muscle, so it’s only natural that you typically awaken disheveled and in need of tending.

“Victory comes at a steep price, but you’re always willing to pay it. Or, should I say, you shoulder too much of it, Li. You should let others carry the burden.” Occisor’s words are typical. It’s always have others handle more of the work. You’re quite content with the work you’ve already given others and the work you already have. In fact, you’d be worried about being lazy if you weren’t doing as much as you already do. You tell Occisor all of this while walking  to your bath. “You’re surrounded by strong subordinates. You should have them do more than just the bare minimum.”

You sigh and shake your head while you wash before entering your steaming bath. Occisor joins you swiftly, simply dispelling his own clothing, so that he can tend to your back. His familiar grasp makes quick work of the little knots in your back while cleaning you of any impurities that would join you in your steaming bath.

But, you do not allow Occisor’s masterful tending to you to have you forget how to speak.

The Preservers are a group of warriors with their own specialties and abilities. Everyone is doing their part to their utmost ability. As the leader of a group of powerful, strong young  men you need to set an example, to do as you demand of them, and be what they strive to be themselves. You must work to the very utmost of your ability as that is what you ask of your fellow brothers.

How would Occisor feel if you told him that he should rely more on Masamune, Clarent, or Allsbane instead of coming to your side whenever you call?

A frown crosses the sharp features of your blonde, strong-jawed attendant as he stands dripping and Adonis-like in the middle of the shower.

“I wouldn’t like that in the slightest, Li.”

You breathe a sigh of relief as soon as you hear your partner’s deep, chagrined admission.

Then, you tell him to turn around so you can reciprocate and work his back, too.

Oho?

What’s this?

Has Occisor been working out?

“Of course, I must be the best partner for you, after all!”

You find Shizi when you make your to breakfast. The short-haired, red-haired Dhamphir is as dour as ever while he eats his meal. The short, lithe former warrior of the Jade Empire’s been slowly becoming more energetic since his return, but he’s understandably miffed about being tricked by Argent Emperor.

How has he been regaining his energy and becoming more brusque instead of sad?

Well, the answer to that is easy.

You annoy him, of course!

Without hesitation you beeline towards the dining table, passing by the many homunculus butlers attending to the Preserver’s breakfast, and grab him by the waist…

“W-what!? H-hey!”

…then you pick him up and holdhim aloft!

“Dammit, Li Song! Put me down this instant!” Ahahah! Shizi doesn’t get to be dour at you! Not after you’ve forgiven him for being misled! He’d been your first companions, not counting your horse, so you won’t have him continue to be morose! No, sir! Not even if it means annoying him and twirling him about like a child. Yep. He hates it so much. “I’ll kill you! I swear I’ll kill you if you don’t put me down this instant!”

Shizi tries to kick at you, but with your firm grip on his well-developed core through the thinness of his shirt, it’s not very difficult to evade his attacks. It’s actually as easy as moving your head side-to-side, given his relative lack of stability or weaponry while you hold him aloft.

You have captured your small, lithe Dhamphir companions… so you can demand from him rewards in exchange for his release!

“Dammit, Li! Not this shit again!”

You want a smile! A big one! And, a good morning! You demand that of the squirming, red-faced Dhamphir you’re holding aloft with ease. Shizi is quickly growing in anger, to the point where he’s biting his lower lip and red to the tips of his ears, while you hold him. You can almost hear him steaming as he redoubles his efforts to escape. However, as is the case every day, there’s only one way he’s getting released from your domination of his body!

“F-fine, you bastard! G-good morning!”

The smile is forced, framed by a face scarlet with rage, but you laugh and comply even as you have to dodge a flurry of kicks after a yell. The Homunculi butlers are swift to remove anything that can be broken near you two… and set up your breakfast on the kitchen counter.

Yep.

You can easily make Shizi feel a little better during breakfast by getting a little creative with your hands.

“Li… this place needs more girls!” Hyoudou words after his training is the same as always. No matter how much you put him through, putting him through a very form imaginable, and demanding more and more of him every day, he issues the same complain while lying breathless and soaked in sweat on the training room floor. “The Preservers is a sausage fest!” You’re truly intrigued as to how he’s able to thrash his arms and legs around in a tantrum after every training session. “We need girls in our group! At least two for every five guys! Gaaaahhhh!”

Whilst you towel yourself off, you provide the same answer as always: if there’s an individual capable of meeting the standards you set, they’re welcome to apply.

“Your standards are too high! Lower them a little! I’m tired of looking at guys every day, dammit!” Hyoudou continues his tantrum, trashing upon the training room for clad only in shorts. His physique has advanced significantly since you met him, though even then he hadn’t been particularly scrawny.  There’s a difference in a body pushed to its utter limit against that gained through just good health, though. While his clothes certainly still fit and his figure is still the same, the tone of his body puts his former self to shame. You pat yourself on the back on a job well done at the sight. “You want a harem, right? How come we’re not doing anything about that, huh!? We should be working hard on bringing the Tuzi back… and that means meeting girls, you know!?”

You remind him that the Tuzi will be better reborn and reforged into a world safe from imminent destruction. You’re not looking for world peace or it’s enforcement by you and your companions, but the simple eradication of any potential for the Earth to suddenly disappear and/or the destruction of humanity.

“Yes! I get that we’re saving the world, but we’re also forgetting how to interact with girls, Li! Spending everyday working out, training, and feasting isn’t doing us any favors socially!” Hyoudou makes a good point instead of resorting to his typical trashing and squirming upon the ground, so you listen to your friend carefully. The Japanese Longinus-user issues a sigh. “I haven’t even gotten a friend who’s a girl, man. All my friends are guys. How the heck am I supposed to get one girlfriend, let alone achieve my dreams, if I keep freezing up whenever I girl talks to me?”

You can only shrug at the boy laid low upon the training room floor. You take a moment to consider your water and the relative stickiness of your body, before dousing yourself in what’s left of the container. The coolness of water is a welcome feeling against your heated, muscled body and you easily wipe away the dregs while avoiding the slight puddle on the floor which roiled off your chest.

Eh, things are pretty fine. And, surely Hyoudou can appreciate not having to deal with relationship drama while saving the world, right?

“I guess...”

Vadik stares at you.

You stare back.

Crossing your arms, you regard the pint-sized, white haired Sage and his taller, black-haired brother with a raised brow.

The latter has his arms crossed over his bare chest and is whistling, while the former is covered in flour… and has a grip on his brother’s shoulder.

“Nothing to see here, Li. I am merely about to punish my brother for his failure to remain proper.” Vadik mutters while keeping a firm hold on his brother’s shoulder. The dichotomy between the younger and elder Nekoshou from the Soviet Union is quite jarring. One is the consummate soldier while the other is the consummate thief. Two opposites in physical appearance, habits, and temperament. “Would you care to suggest something? A dunking in a Siberian lake perhaps? That should protect us from his constant dalliances for a few days.”

You sigh and break the two apart.

Vadki glares at you while his brother flees.

“You are too soft on him. Pranks such as these should not be taken lightly.” Vadik is a small bundle of rage and wrath. You know well enough that despite the fact he only reaches your bicep in terms of height, he’s quite the powerhouse and your superior reach against him means nothing. The flour-covered Soviet Sage levels a golden gaze upon you. You’re quite sure he’d not have allowed you to release his brother from his grasp if he did not respect you so much. “He may require a means to recreate after the missions you give him, but he still requires discipline.”

You remind Vadik politely that his brother is merely looking out for him. Vadik, after all, is worst of the Preservers in regards to protecting himself against the unexpected. He might be guarding you now, and that allows him to keep his wits sharp, but you’d like for him to be able to protect himself from assassins while alone and not just with you.

The faintest of blushes forms on Vadik’s face. It is very faint, probably unnoticeable upon the skin on others, but the paleness of his skin and the dusting of flower he’s gained has made the slight red more easy to see in your eyes.

You can’t help but pat him between his flattened ears.

He’s only a few months younger than you, but he’s far more driven than you are in certain regards.

You’d like for him to be more considerate of himself, even with the responsibilities he holds.

And, of course, work harder to prevent his brother from successfully attacking him in the first place. If that hadn’t his been his brother, he’d have been attacked with something more deadly than just flour.

You do not want to see Vadik hurt.

After all, the perfect bodyguard needs to be capable protecting themselves first

Vadik takes a moment to respond and agree, but you take heart in how he nestles ever-so-slightly against your palm when he does.

Why… he might have even purred a little!

As far as days go, there’s always the part that’s more difficult than the rest.

For you, it’s whenever you meet with Vali.

“Come in Song. Take a seat.” You’re truly grateful that he saved you a long time ago. The Half-Devil raised by Sheridan Creighton is also the classic gentleman. You’ve never seen him wear anything besides a suit and act out of place. However, without a doubt, you find spending time with him more demanding than most. “You’ve down well today. I’ve had your findings confirmed and the Aspect of Time has truly been secured. Though, I question you placing him under the care of Miyakuro.”

Your teacher, your savior, and your friend is a perfectionist.

From the cuffs on his sleeves, the tips of his shoes, and the way his hair is just-so pulled back, there’s never a day when Vali is anything besides a tall, handsome gentleman dressed all in white. Even during battles he is a knight clad in pure silver studded with sapphires and he leaves diamond dust in his wake.

Having him quibble about every little thing you do grates on you, but you nonetheless smile and await your lecture.

Because, as hard as Vali presses you, it’s always for your sake.

“Though I’m sure you had CORE’s current situation in mind during your decision, we are still capable of providing exceptional care to individuals who are recovering from memory loss, especially those with abilities beyond the norm.” Vali settles behind his desk as he typically does, gesturing for your to settle down and take a drink. At the very least, his perfectionism extends towards how to treat others too. Though you dislike the fact that the snacks and drinks you’ve been provided means that the lecture will be a long one, you appreciate that they’re present for the long lecture ahead of you. “Your actions also place undue stress on Miyakuro, who is already working quite hard due to CORE’s not being provided a place in the Preserver’s means of management.”

You contest that Miyakuro’s Eye of Wisdom and his interaction with his alternate from the future  gave him the most extensive technical knowledge regarding the Aspect of Time… and that you didn’t want such knowledge to be shared.

“A very good point in favor of your actions, but can you provide more points? My father is a very persuasive man, but he can be swayed with sound logic.” Vali sighs despite complimenting you and you barely withhold your own while he presses his glasses up his sharp nose. Yep. This will be a long lecture, as you’d expected. “You must be able to present your case and sustain it Li Song, not just provide one point which my father can bury beneath a dozen lesser ones.”

You settle into your seat as Vali shakes his head and refocuses on you.

“Say what you just said with more emphasis, but abstain from implying CORE to be at fault. You can do that later, to turn the tables, but not at the start as my father can surely turn it about to have you pity him.”

This is going to be a long, private night with your teacher as always.
