WE'RE CRAFTING ON THE MOOOON! Me and Leslie's weekend was just nonstop cosmic exploring in Final Fantasy XIV. Leslie went the gathering route with nonstop mining and fishing, while I've been honing my artisanal skills by completing my first of many cosmic tools. This is exactly the kind of grindy MMO shenanigans we've been waiting for. Just a nice, chill hub area with mindless things to do and lots of people to talk to, interspersed with the occasional server event to make things exciting. By the time this post goes up, I'll have my cosmic saw in hand, moving on to like... maybe culinarian or somethin', I dunno.

That's all for today, though! See you on Monday for more Rock Cocks!

Comments

I wish I could like this comment a hundred times. Thank you so, so much for thinking this hard about our characters. It seriously makes me so happy seeing someone analyze and utilize that intimate knowledge of our characters to guess what they might do next! I won't spoil anything, but I think you'll like where we go from here~

I understand Seth's reluctance because it feels like the Rock Cocks would essentially be throwing out any remaining hope for a mainstream career by doing this, but at this point, it feels like that's already been done for them by Roxanne. They had to cancel the tour because no one would book them. Even if they played this gig straight, it's not like playing like a normal rock band at a dead man's secret orgy would suddenly change the calculus on their careers moving forward, even with influential horny people in attendance. At best, they find a new backer who will sweet talk them into a couple new venues, but nothing that would change their overall perception to the wider music scene. However, if they play it the way they want to, I'd say that increases the likelihood of several rich horny people wanting them to perform at one of THEIR Eyes Wide Shut parties, which is at least something. The problem from Seth's perspective is that he doesn't want Rock Cocks to be a niche band that can only book private adult venues for unadvertised shows, because once you start doing that, you can't really expect to go back to mainstream venues, and without mainstream exposure, it's basically impossible to sell albums and merch, so to stay financially solvent, they would have to perform pretty much constantly, and pretty much exclusively for rich assholes who mostly just want to see them fuck on stage. But from Steg and Suria's perspective, this is the only gig they've gotten in ages, they've always wanted to fuck on stage for an audience, and this may be their only chance to ever do it. I simply don't see them passing this up, and despite Seth's warnings, I imagine it's going to take a bit for them to realize that this is, indeed, a mistake. The way I see this going is Seth maintains that this is a bad, short-sighted idea and that if they do it, he walks. Then they do it anyway, Liz steps up to take over, it seems to work out OK for a while without Seth, but after a few months of only playing sex shows for horny rich people, they start to feel like their music is overshadowed by the sex, and begin to wonder whether they're actually musicians at all or if they've effectively become sex workers with a music gimmick without realizing it. Perhaps Liz begins to doubt her ability to manage them on her own. At which point, I imagine Roxanne will show up to scoop them up and sign them up to join Rocket Roller (but maybe only in studio) where they can at least get back to focusing on the music, and maybe they finally start bonding with Billy and Emily over music and finding out they have good musical (and sexual?) chemistry together as Rocket Roller becomes more popular than ever. But then I imagine Emily finally does something exhibitionist that goes public and ruins Rocket Roller's reputation, forcing Roxanne to drop them, but maybe she still tries to retain Steg and Suria as session musicians for other acts since, for once, they weren't involved in the incident. They'll be offered steady employment as professional musicians for the studio. But having bonded with Billy and Emily and feeling they got dropped for the same hypocritical, prudish reasons that ended the Rock Cocks tour, they decide to walk out with them. Then I imagine Seth will come back, apologies will be made, and the Rock Cocks will be back, maybe this time with Billy and Emily added to the roster for a well-rounded four-piece sex band. I imagine Billy may be reluctant, given his ambition, but all it would take would be for him to meet King and have a talk for him to change his tune. Billy idolizes that man. At least, this is how I see it playing out. So yeah, given allll that, I can understand Seth's reluctance. He can probably see how this could (and probably will) go wrong, and how it ultimately plays into Roxanne's hands for the band to struggle on the fringes, questioning their actual talent. But Seth seems genuinely blindsided by this, and I don't think he can come up with a viable path to Steg and Suria being able to fuck on stage SOME DAY to hold them over, especially when this gig is a hail mary for their career in the first place. In his mind, fucking on stage is just a line they can't cross if they want to be taken seriously. But for them, it's all they think they want right now. Oof, I really didn't expect things to go this way, but now that we're here, I'm just seeing all of the setups from over the years, and it feels like we're on the verge of seeing a lot of them pay off.

Suria: "This is our dream!" Seth: "Your dream is very short sighted."
