Spurred by the new season of Marvel Rivals, Leslie and I rented Blade 1 and 2 tonight. We just finished watching them. Blade 1 is a pretty serviceable movie, even if it's hard to actually look at thanks to its constant shaky cam and eye-bleeding special effects. But it's got the memes, it's got the ice-skating line, it's got some fun action and Wesley Snipes's dumb coolness is just too infectious.
Blade 2, though? Holy shit. No one told me it was a Del Toro movie! With Ron Perlman AND Norman Reedus! What an incredible step up for a film. No longer are we just cribbing from Vampire the Masquerade - we've got costumes, props, sets, some occasionally real bad CG fight scenes. But it's a Del Toro ass movie through and through, and we loved the hell out of it.
Will we see Blade Trinity? We've heard nothing but awful things, and I can see why it's probably less loved coming off of Blade 2. Everyone tells us to avoid it, but curiosity is probably going to get the better of us.
That's all for today, though! See you on Friday!
