Rick and Morty 3x1 Reaction Early Access!

At the beginning, when Rick says to the agent, "… What do you have me in, a series 9000…" I wonder if that's a nod to, " HAL" from, "2001: A Space Odyssey" (where he [HAL] refers to himself during an interview as a, "…9000 Series computer…" Ref: /watch?v=BDha7nj4s10

The original escape plan was to get the level 9 access password from the commander and destroy the government by screwing the economy. That got disrupted by the arrival of SEAL team Ricks in the middle of our Rick getting the password. Everything between that and Rick defeating the Federation was Rick winging it until he could get past the level 9 door.

I guess Aaron doesn't understand why divorces happen, yeah it's a show but still... You can only "go back to 1" so many times.

You could also take it that Beth and Jerry are miserable people who blame their problems on other people and refuse to grow or change, thus they never really confront the real issues of their marriage and it always slides back. The realities where they aren’t together have them still unable to deal with their problems and continue to be miserable people. I think they can have a happy marriage if they put in the work or accepted fault and grew, but neither is willing to admit they could be wrong or that they need to change.

Lucky for you that you've never seen a relationship like Beth and Jerry in real life that you can't even understand it. I've seen relationships like that where they are fighting one day, reconcile, and then are fighting again the next day.

I like to believe that while that flashback was a fabrication, it's based on some kernal of truth. rick's always going on about infinite families to work with, I'm sure he's put that into practice at some point

The point of Beth and Jerry’s marriage is that no matter how well something may seem fixed, it’s still not going to work. We can pretend like we got a happy ending, but once we wake up the next day we’re back to the same old routine. This show isn’t meant to have happy endings, just endings.
