Their reactions may be not as excessive as the main gang's was to the heavy stuff, but they catch and appreciate the jokes and characters much better. Like 3x5 full length, where Tyrion and Cercei get their marriages arranged. The reactions to that scene were just golden. They don't really make light of the serious situations (not right during them at least), if that's what you're worried about.
