No but they did waste here energy on Mako who really in the end couldnt handle either and I do think Bolin did have true feelings for Korra. Allot of Bolin's well over self confidence is his nervous tick he has when he really likes someone. he just really got in trouble with the Water Tribe girl.

Ofcourse what would have made this episode of season great. Zuko, Katara and Toph have a great team avatar scene in this episode and they fail but Korra and Bolin have to save them.

Not to mention that somehow the narrative in LoK is always "spirits and nature good!!11 humans bad!!" while we saw spirits literally attacking, killing and mutilating innocent humans in Beginnings just because they were hunting for food, so yeah, Wan was right to close the portals.

I mean, her opening the portals hasn't done anything good at all, really. We've seen almost no real examples of spirits and humans truly living together, most humans still don't seem to give a shit about spirits, and that's also the case the other way around. It seems like 99% of spirits are still just always in the Spirit World, and the ones that aren't indeed act like assholes and hate humans. Yet the show still tried to force the narrative of humans and spirits living together in harmony, even so that they added ANOTHER portal. Long story short: Opening the portals hasn't done anything good, humans and spirits still live seperated from what we've seen, and it has only led to bad things, such as Zaheer, Kuvira and the shit that's happening now in Turf Wars. But hey, what can you expect from an unexperienced teenager who just decides to reverse a decision that has /actually/ caused balance and harmony between spirits and humans for 10.000 years without any logical reasoning or thought process behind it, just for the sake of the plot?

This fight is easily top 3 in all of avatar. The other 2 are Zuko vs Azula final Agni Kai, and Red Lotus vs Kataang Kids.

I loved "You give metalbenders a bad name!" so much. Considering that it is coming from the actual creator of metalbending, this is the worst insult Kuvira could receive. :D

I feel like Batar senior acted like that because I'm pretty sure hes not an earth bender and would just be naturally scared in that situation. I also feel Batar jr isnt an earth bender either but I'm unsure.

I felt bad for Korra. She was trying to get the spirits to help out and unite humans and spirits and the spirits blew her off and compared her to Kuvira. The spirits kind became assholes in this. I can see why Wan sent them home and closed the portals.
