They always question the sense of things whether or not they have personal stakes in them. For example discussing the robot in Korra or how she became a giant. They would most likely wonder about the legitimacy of the win regardless. And the bracket thing is most likely to get them invested than get them out of it. They also mentio how they liked the episode and question how the finale will stack up so they probably enjoyed it.

They are always 1-2 in advance so it's hard to bring up something that has been relevant in a long time. Also I thing in Gravity girl case there's already the explanation about her getting sick which they probably know now(they mention in a recent reaction I think).

I don't really agree with people saying the brackets are ruining their excitement if you watch their review after none of them was salty about it and they did go into the intricacies of the episode

My thought is the Brackets should be 1 point for round 1, 2 points for round 2, 3 points for round 3, and 4 points for the final. A side note: The explanation that Bakugo gave for how Quirks work also explains why Uraraka could not continuously use her powers to float her team in the cavalry battle. If I remember correctly that was one of the questions you guys asked during the episode. Now we know why. (You know I really hope they read these or at the very least someone does so he can tell the rest of the group. Just hoping all the explanations/opinions we give, not just for this show but others, don't fall on deaf ears)

Not wearing a costume during the festival is supposed to keep all the students equal. Only the hero classes (A and B) actually have costumes. Gen, Support, and Business do not. They don't want any of the students to stand out so they can't wear their costumes. Also, the only reason Aoyama could wear his belt was because it helped his quirk. Bakugou doesn't need his grenade's - those only give him more fire power, if he needed them to use his quirk he might have been allowed to use them. Mei mentioned something like this as to why the support students could bring gear that they made.

"Dubs will always be shit compared to subs. Voice acting is better in subs, dialogue is better in subs."
And you lost me there. Clearly, some lines are better in one or the other, I respect that, but it's this kind of "always better" nonsense that comes across as silly prejudice. E.g. I like All Might's voice acting more in the sub (it's deeper and has more heft), but Deku's in the dub (it's less screechy).
Also case in point, I genuinely do think "It's yours, your quirk not his" is better. It's more assertive. It uses repetition to hammer home a point. It insists on a self-evident truth. "It's your power isn't it?" is just a weak rhetorical question. These things are subjective.
2018-04-29 21:01:54 +0000 UTC
Let me give you an example. When endavor confronts Deku before the match in the sub he says "I am not All Might" with Endavor replying "thats obvious" then Midoriya replying "That obvious right? Todoroki isn't you either" and in the dub Midoryia says "I am not All Might and same goes for Todoroki" I mean cmon if you don't think the sub handled that interaction better you are crazy. Another example would be this episode when Deku yells at Todoroki in the sub he says "Its your power isn't it?" and in the dub he says "Its yours, your quick not his" which is shit. Overall the dub completely butchered this episode compared to the sub. The only reason I watch this disgrace is because I support BlindWave. The sub does no change up much from the manga also fyi. Dubs will always be shit compared to subs. Voice acting is better in subs, dialogue is better in subs. You can't sit here and tell me that the dub doesn't fuck the sub.

It's just a bunch of sour grapes from everyone who lost in that bracket. If it was the other way around I'm pretty sure they wouldn't care. Those walls though didn't do a thing. If you watch it and pay close attention Shoto's attack melts hole's in them and Deku, more than likely, was able to punch(or in this case) "palm" through them. Besides Deku was in the air, he had no defense. He was being blasted out of that ring no matter what especially with the force behind that explosion. One last thing: Since their attempt to stop the fight was unsuccessful(though it may very well have saved one if not both their lives), Midnight, the ring announcer/ judge deemed it Shoto's win.

Had the ref not interfered, they both could have been killed by the attacks. Besides what would Deku do in the next battle. He is so damaged that recovery girl would not be able to heal him in a single go.

The dub version does contain the explanation of "I am here." It just wasn't included in this 10-min edit cut. People shouldn't attack the dub on the basis of only seeing 50% of it with every Blind Wave episode.
2018-04-29 15:14:06 +0000 UTC
All Might's TV lines to young Shoto meant nothing compared to the sub version, which includes All Might's "catch phrase" "I am here" and the explanation to why he uses it. I couldn't care less if they watch sub or dub, but this was a cool bit of information that was important to Shoto's process of accepting his fire quirk and was lost.
2018-04-29 14:47:57 +0000 UTC
Oh for christs' sake, what now? You do realize the sub switches up lines from the MANGA too?

I love how Calvin thinks he is an expert in combat and has broken his fingers. When has Calvin did battle after breaking his fingers. Deku can't do rapid fire shots.

Agreed. If Deku won without Todoroki using his left it potentially would've ruined Todoroki's development as a character AND Deku growing to be a hero.

From all the reactions I've seen these 4 guys (especially Calvin) are the only ones who are seemingly butthurt about how Shoto won this match. Deku get's A LOT of shine later so this was well deserved. And yeah the animation was spot on, best fight in the tournament imo.
Björn Rosengren
2018-04-29 01:07:00 +0000 UTC
Its fair in my opinion. The teachers interfering completely demeans the whole point of the tournament. I 100% agree that there should have been a tie breaker. Unfortunately when it comes to writing, they probably had the two finalists and then after that decided how they would get to that point after.

2018-04-28 23:16:48 +0000 UTC
I think you guys missed the point. This episode is one of the best examples of why Midoriya is the best hero. Its because at the end of the day being the best isn't all about power, its about your virtues and the way you conduct yourself as a hero on top of your actual abilities. Midoriya lost because he threw the fight, he cared more about making shoto use his fire, and save him from living a life resentment then he did about actually winning the fight, or becoming the champion.

I think I speak for most of the people waiting for this reaction for weeks that most of the crew except Eric didn’t react in the way we wanted them to. This episode showed us an amazing fight between two fighters and a great message being delivered to one of them. The brackets made them focus too much in the fighting aspect and not the meaningful aspect of the episode.

These comments had me so worried they'd be shitting on the episode, it wasn't that bad. I've watched this show with so many reactors and some of them have had their own disagreements (this is the 3rd time i've heard people blame Cementoss) with how things played out but they've all said, regardless of the results, they enjoyed watching it.

Man, this was such a hype episode that everybody was looking forward too. I thought Eric's reaction/thoughts were spot on and lived up to the hype. Can't say the same for the rest unfortunately. Calvin gets so annoying with his BS explanations that are almost always wrong...The interference had nothing to do with the end result. Todoroki was winning this regardless. Also, Shane adds no value to the discussions (always looks bored/disinterested) and makes empty remarks (calling Shoto's reasons balony...). Eric saved this reaction tbh
2018-04-28 18:32:58 +0000 UTC

2018-04-28 18:01:56 +0000 UTC
Or the character development. Even though Midoriya could've won he wanted Todoroki to accept his left side cause that's what a hero should do. I don't buy cementoss's cement blocks did anything to the outcome of the fight honestly, Midoriya was too beat up and did one final attack and it didn't work - simple.
Björn Rosengren
2018-04-28 17:59:52 +0000 UTC
The whole point of the walls was to show that not even a pro could stop the power that both of those two coming at each other. They broke through the walls with ease. That's my take of it at least.

Yeah me and Calvin are of alike minds I truly believe those walls interfered with dekus attack since it was more of a piercing thrust I think it could have cut through todorokis attack however as the teachers said would his body have held up probably not which is why I think midoriya could've won I'm ok with him losing to interference in this case considering the circumstances

2018-04-28 16:49:27 +0000 UTC
Yeah, the brackets have made them go a lil bonkers. Also the salt Calvin has for the ending is real.
Cementoss's walls did nothing here, considering what Midoriya did to the floors from the first training exercise, after all.
Brackets were a cool idea, but man.. it's really getting em invested in a different way. Still an amazing episode regardless of who won!
Alex
2018-04-28 16:45:06 +0000 UTC
I liked the bracket idea, but it did kinda make the guys get more upset about the outcome and worried about whether or not it was "fair" because it messed up so many of their brackets lol. They were more worried about the outcome than enjoying the awesome fight!

I agree that the outcome of the fight probably wasn't affected by the cement, but the teachers still called a winner after they tried to stop the match which feels kinda sketchy. Midorya wouldn't have been able to carry on in the tournament after that fight so Todoroki would have won by default anyway but i understand where the guys are coming from.

Support Girl (Mei Hatsume) was allowed to wear her stuff because of two reasons. First, she is a member of the support class, she can't be expected to battle more combat heavy classes like 1-A and 1-B. Second, she built her own gear, unlike Bakugo who designed his stuff but didn't build them. Support Girl mentioned this before but I think you guys talked over it.

Spoiler alert!!! Don't read if you are watching along with Blind Wave!!!! If you watch closely when Deku launches his final attack he very briefly uses OFA correctly (sort of). If you look very closely you can see him protruding green lightning from his arm for about 2 frames before he and Shoto collide with the pillars of cement that Cementos created!

2018-04-28 15:50:46 +0000 UTC
The way I see it, since Midnight's gas didn't reach them, only Cementoss's cement slabs were put in the way but it looked to be just in the middle so benefiting neither side, they both hit it very powerfully but Todoroki hit it harder so it knocked Midoriya out fair and square.
2018-04-28 15:43:30 +0000 UTC
Guys the cement did jack shit. It immediately got destroyed and didn’t effect the outcome of the fight, just stopped the kids from dying. This bracket has made you guys more invested in the competition than accepting what’s happening in the show.

If you go back you can see that Todoroki's blast started from the right and blew through to the center block. Midoriya's punch hit the block on the left and the force blew through to the middle. When both met it created an even bigger explosion. The refs didn't help Todorok win.
I don't think it's fair to say he only lost cuz of the refs intervening. I also don't think the author intended it that way either, I'm confident that Todoroki was meant to win this match in a fair way.
Also, those fire and ice effects were an awesome touch!
Zack

They said that they aren't allowed to wear their costumes because it would give them an unfair advantage. ONLY the support class can use gear IF they give a written request in advance. Iida was an exception because it was Mei's gear.
