Added 2019-01-08 13:01:00 +0000 UTCAs you can see, he ended up a little different than the drawing. I decided to add a few details as the rendering progressed that I think helped it overall.
The problem I had was that the overall shape of the figure just felt a little bland at first. I settled on the problem being the helmet shape because it just felt a little too flat and round and left the whole figure in too much of a circular shape.
To solve this I decided to add the sail on top of the ancient helmet. It solved a lot of the shape problems by breaking up the outline and giving him a little more height. Also, it was a great chance to add a little more narrative to this warrior from a once proud empire of pond-dwellers, now sunken deep into the murky bog.
