"Totem of the Rat King" Final Painting!

We painted the wizard and dwarf into the scene live on Twitch last Wednesday and had a great time hanging out with a lot of you!

I finished the watercolor yesterday and added a few digital notes to punch up the details and lighting. Some of the colors in my initial comp were particularly challenging to capture in watercolor, primarily because of the high saturation of colors like the bright magenta and the teal blue. But even with those challenges, the image was a blast to paint and I am very pleased with how everything turned out in the final. I think this one will fit in nicely with the rest of the series. I will be talking about all this and more about how we finished the image live this Wednesday on Twitch (10AM EST). After that we plan to do a drawing demo for the stream. Look for a post about that soon.

2020-04-01 22:22:33 +0000 UTCIn the first place there is “morgoth and the silmaris”. In the second “the hunting of carcharoth”. Morgoth is a wonderful masterpiece! A few years ago my favorite ones were the hobbit ones. Now are those of the silmarillion. But the dungeon series ones are beautiful and start climbing the rankings. Why did you do hobbit and silmarillion and not lord of the ring?
