Bloodborne Review Trivia (FULL)

First of all, we've received a lot of new Patrons after the recent video. I want to welcome you guys. I hope I can give you all a better insight into my content.

I'm considering doing these in video format in the future, where I will pause and talk about each part of a video. Though, it will be harder for me. Tell me if you think that the text format is hard to follow! And if you're new, I do video trivia as a section-by-section thing, according to the parts in the video, describing the scene rather than expecting you to be looking at the video, so if you vaguely remember it, you should be okay.

~~ INTRO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- In order to make this video, I went through and sorted ALL footage according to the area of the game and what I was doing. Then, I color coded it. This made it almost 5 times as fast to locate the clips that I wanted. However, many of the clips you see in the intro are just random pickings. I tried to make sure that for intro clips, there was a lot of action, hitting, etc.

- The hardest part about making the intro was getting the audio right. I agonized over many small details of the audio, especially the music. The music's volume was re-adjusted perhaps dozens of times, back and forth. Each section of the intro may have slightly different volume for the music depending on where in the song it is.

- I really liked the "eating babies" joke in the intro, I thought it was a good way to lead people into it. As the video went on, however, it didn't really seem to be a particularly funny joke. Just one of many funny details regarding the lore.

- I consider seeing bosses and areas for this game a spoiler. It really is a game that has to be discovered. I also know that there are legions of people who watch the game but will never play it. With all this in mind, plus it's a 5 year old game, I decided to just go full spoiler mode and not care at all. This is why I add the "Entertainment first" clause in the intro, as well as the spoiler warning before any footage. I consider basically the first shot of the video to be a spoiler.

- My vtuber addiction is complete and consumes my mind. I had to put Suzuhara Lulu in the video somewhere, as she is the most popular vtuber to have played Bloodborne. The reason she is in the spider clip is because she has arachnophobia.

- This review coincidentally has no footage of the One Reborn bossfight except for his boss intro.

- Much of the early footage is actually ruined because it has an FPS below 30 that is inconsistent. This is because I originally recorded Central Yharnam with a different, obscure OBS setting and I spent an hour tweaking it to fix.

~~PART 1: THE BASICS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- I agonized repeatedly over the first section of the game but realized I had to put at least a basic explanation of the gameplay. This leads naturally into the more complicated customization and RPG aspects of the game. In retrospect, I should have not had these be in the first section, but rather in a later section titled "RPG mechanics" or something. It's not as engaging as the rest of the video to hear about the Blood Gems, though I put a LOT of effort into trying to make this section entertaining.

- I could have emphasized the difficulty way more here but decided that the game isn't really about difficulty necessarily, it's about using the difficulty to make the experience more engaging. The video leans into this aspect instead.

- I include my tirade about the Pig farming route because I knew the pacing would be better if I allowed myself to be less focused, as well as keeping the entertaining away from hard explanations. Originally, the entire video was going to be less focused, but this stopped.

- Bloodborne is locked to 30FPS. My capture card captures at 60FPS. I decided it would be better for the video if the memes and other content I put on screen ran at 60. This means, for each tracking shot, In order to track the camera onto something I need to exactly specify where the camera should be for every single frame, otherwise it will be desynced with the footage.

- I originally wanted to do a mini-guide on how to level up your character but decided against it because that would be material for a potential multiplayer video, if I ever get to do it. That, and it would be far too boring frontloading. If I did, it would be useless information because of the nearly dead multiplayer.

- To create the "lore" section of the video was the most difficult. I worked for possibly 4-7 hours a day to get around 45 seconds. It took me 2 days to do the entire lore section. I had to be creative and individually move all of the shapes, as well as acquire all the art assets, stock imagery, etc. to make the lore section.

- I hid numerous references to the game "Genshin Impact" despite not playing it for basically no reason. People kept sending me Hu Tao memes and they lived in my head rent free.

~~PART 2: PREPARE TO DIE ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- Throughout my video I have to give careful consideration for the pacing from the viewer's perspective. Bosses are the big known thing about Bloodborne, and the thing that people want to hear talked about, so I reoriented the video to talk about bosses, then areas, and finally exploration and NPCs. It also helps to frame everything between action vs. RPG

- The witches of hemwick do not show up in the video besides this because their fight is 90% walking around. I tried to use some of their footage several times and got frustrated

- I think the tracking shots of this part of the video, particularly when I speak about bosses, were slightly excessive, but that the audio is perfect.

- I was genuinely afraid, while making this, that I would just go on a rant about bad bosses. In fact, the latter part of the boss section was rewritten maybe 3 times. Originally there was going to be a tirade about The One Reborn, but I realized that it was a bad idea to rant about particularly good or bad bosses several times over. Only twice, Micolash and Rom.

- The Micolash section came out fantastically and, though I wanted to cut down on particular boss ranting, I loved it too much to trim anything.

- I have never fought Micolash legitimately. His instakill attack is too frustrating for me to learn (Around 5 min+ of wait time if you fail the dodge) so I have always cheesed him using  the poison knife method in the video. I only entered his arena to fight him for footage.

- Also, you do not see this, but the Micolash footage is absolutely plagued with constant bugs. These bugs were fixed when I plugged my capture card into a USB hub, and then the USB hub into my USB slot. I do not know how. What you see is the non-bugged footage that remained.

- I had contemplated cutting down the British jokes. I decided instead to concentrate them in one spot, which was done in this part of the video.

- When I rant about the "mini map", I used the GTAV minimap. Not only this, but I got the minimap footage from my Cyberpunk 2077 video, which had a few seconds of GTAV footage that I ripped from.

- Here's a secret: I talk about a level called "Nightmare Lecture Hall" and make fun of the name by showing the achievement that calls the level "Nightmare Lecture Building". However, it is never called "Nightmare Lecture Hall" in game at all, just "Lecture Hall". I tweaked the name slightly in order to make the joke work.

- I include specific descriptions of the secret areas because I felt like I had to go on a small side point in order for the pacing to work. Also, I talk about two bosses specifically, so I wanted to talk about 2 areas specifically, although briefly. The Cainhurst description for me is absolutely perfect and I love the jokes in it.

- Getting NPC footage for this was hard and tedious. I had to do numerous side quests. I also had to mostly play through the game twice.

- This leads me to another funny detail: I played the entire game twice in four days. I spent approx. 10 hours recording each day. I did not turn on my gaming PC for those four days, I only booted up the PS4 and my laptop for recording.

- I had to Email VaatiVidya to ask him to use some footage. He said yes.

~~PART 3: THE OLD HUNTERS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- I specify that Lovecraftian hell would include air conditioning. This is because HP Lovecraft was an extremely neurotic nervous wreck who comically feared lots of modern amenities and discoveries. This includes air conditioning, which was the subject of a horror story he wrote called "Cool air".

- Originally I wanted to talk about every boss in the entire DLC. This was my intention when I wrote Ludwig's part. I didn't have enough to say about the others (Besides Laurence) so those two were the only ones I talk extensively about (More than like, 20 seconds).

- There is no reason I wrote in the wholesome part in which I congratulate the viewer for overcoming challenges in life. I felt it was necessary and smooth because I could tie it in with the difficulty of the boss.

- Throughout this video, but particularly with the DLC section, I had to choose when to alternate between my "Real voice" and my voice that I use for a lot of the video where I sound deeper and more authoritative. I wanted it to not be too varied, and I worked for a while to make them sound more similar to one another so that when I began talking in one or the other, it was more seamless. I didn't understand how Vtubers could talk in fake voices for so long until I committed to this.

- I wish I had given the viewer more time to listen to Ludwig's theme when I spoke about the music of the game. I don't know why I cut it so quickly, I was afraid that it would slow down too much. I'm very nervous about that aspect of my videos and I try to keep the viewer constantly entertained.

~~PART 4: THE CHALICE DUNGEONS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

-I wrote this part of the video specifically because I wanted to talk about save-edited Chalice dungeons and how the game could be hacked or screwed with. I ended up liking what I wrote to ease the viewer into the concepts so much that I expanded on it and it became a very good section of the video (in my opinion).

- I could not beat the Defiled chalice in the time I had to record (Remember, I recorded everything in four days) so a LOT of the footage you see is from Loran, and not Isz.

- There are a LOT of graphs for Chalice Dungeons because of people using them for farming or for certain routes. I had to cut showing lots of these graphs because I was legitimately afraid fast scrolling text with white backgrounds would cause eye strain.

- I had been waiting for so long to edit together the scene where I show you the fat naked guy rolling around it's unreal. It is the developers poking fun at Dark Souls gameplay.

- When I went to talk about save-edit dungeons, the length of the video began to tire me, and the length between videos that my channel had gone through was seemingly too much. I became stressed. I tried to wrap it up faster and with less effort since I knew it was near the end of the video. I physically could not. I edit at the quality and speed my brain tells me too and may not be able to edit slower once I get used to it.

- There is a real Kotaku article talking about the "Cum Dungeon". I have always wanted to talk about the Cum Dungeon ever since I heard about it.

- When I say the phrase "Cut and unfinished content" I put so much emphasis on the K noise that they're nearly a different consonant sound. Gives it some texture in my opinion. This is probably because it becomes a more back of the mouth pronunciation since I'm using my "Youtuber voice".

~~CONCLUSION ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

- I wanted to talk about the Hunter's Dream and the Doll ever since the area part but I wanted to save it for later as an aside. It doesn't really connect to the theme of exploration for that part of the video. Therefore, it is here.

- I talk about the doll at the conclusion for 2 main reasons: I wanted to justify putting "Doll Waifu Simulator" in the title, and I also wanted to justify putting cropped porn into the video.

- I found the doll hentai by myself in the process of extensive research into the game

- I am unironically convinced this game will eventually be ported to PC because of Sony's porting policy change (Such as Days Gone being ported to PC) and I want to be known for talking about it, leading people to look back at this video as if it carries with it some nostalgia. If it isn't, then dark times are ahead.

- I never thought I would be able to make this video, ever. I had only 4 days to play it because I borrowed a PS4 just to do it. I had played the game originally in college on my roommate's PS4, and beat the game maybe 10 times. By the time I picked it back up, I knew essentially every detail about the game, and I played very optimally and quickly to get a lot of footage very fast. This would include things like killing many bosses (like Ebrietas or Maria) first try.

- I only put the Mythbusters Smut discord into the video because I thought it was a funny name.

Comments

I would be totally interested in video format if you felt like doing it this way, perhaps mixed format where you do it the way you feel like would be even better? I appreciate your work regardless of the format you deliver it in!

Personally, I prefer a text based format for these breakdowns. Many thanks Max0r!
