I know I'm a bit late to the "Patreon changing things and not telling anyone about it" party, but I was busy releasing Submachine: Legacy.
I want to address the FREE members here - and I really would like to see your answer to this.
Why did you join for free? I don't judge, I just want to know the reason, so I can maybe respond to the free option somehow. What would you like to see here? Drawings, screens from upcoming games? Direct conversation with the community?
I read somewhere that this way - when joining for free - I can actually reach you with posts such as this one, therefore I'd REALLY want you to respond to this if it's true.
Don't be shy, let me make this community better for all of us. You can just answer with an emoticon or something, I just want to see the reach of this post.
So the benefit of the free option would be an organic reach to all members without an algorithm that throttles the spread of a post, like it happens on other social media platforms like facebook, instagram or twitter.
On facebook I'm reaching at most 5-10% of people. (my facebook page has 11 000 people, my latest post was seen by 500)...
So, you see, if you join here for free because you are eager to hear what's going on here and what I'm working on, it's fine, I can post more free updates for you.
However, if the outreach isn't what they say it is, I don't want to spam my paid members with the usual posting like on facebook or twitter.
This situation with FREE memberships is very strange, I kind of get the intent, but in the long run it hurt my bottom line because you join for free and there's nothing here for you and you just go away. I'd like to keep you here, but I'm not sure how.
I can't just post for free the content that's available for paid tiers.
Long story short: as a FREE member - what did you expect to see here and what would you want me to show you?
Again, I have no ill intent here, I'm curious about keeping this boat afloat for the future.

I think I *followed* you a while back and patreon turned it into free membership. I do this to keep tabs of creators that I cannot yet contribute to, would love to be looped into one off opportunities to support you in the mean time and just hear about whatever awesome thing you're up to/how you're doing/ ways to engage Happy new year!

2023-12-28 00:11:57 +0000 UTCIf I was a free member I would want to know what projects are being worked on and maybe the ocationaly update. I follow you on socials but that dosent always mean I see everything. BTW I love your stuff and have been here sence the early flash games
