House Wenjansk will survive

Hello all, and welcome to Falthringor, the mighty mountaintop fortress! After fleeing their ransacked lakeside home, House Wenjansk fled into the mountains. There, they found a forgotten citadel high atop the snowy peaks. They claimed this fortress as their own. The castle hides secrets, and the giants who destroyed their former capital still threaten to topple the entire great house. Will your party of adventures come to House Wenjansk's aid?

This borough will consist of four releases, each of which continues to flesh out the fortress and expands upon the lore of Falthringor and its inhabitants. Let's dive in!

Borough Guide

This introduction to Falthringor describes the origins of the keep. An ancient race of alchemists once inhabited this great castle, but their strange experiments tainted the soil and corrupted their blood. The castle had lain dormant for 1,000 years before House Wenjansk rediscovered it. Learn about the idiosyncracies of the great house, their controversial leader, and their plans for the future. Plus, uncover the mysteries of the torrent opus, an alchemical engine that provides fresh water for the castle. What other mystical secrets linger in the tunnels below?

Maps

Our first map for Falthringor is the northwest corner of the castle. Nestled up against the highest portion of the mountains, this incredibly defensible citadel will be a blast to use for some highly tactic combat. The standout feature of this first map is the torrent opus. The strange machine pulls water out of the heavens and deposits the bounty in a cistern. And don't worry: for those of you don't want maps with quirky magic devices, we have a waterfall-less variant available for you as well.

Patrons at the Chief Courier tier and up gain access to Falthringor's storied great hall. This throne room / dining hall will inevitably be the site of many drunken brawls, tense court negotiations, and late night snacks.

We also have a radically different variant map for Falthringor, a version of the castle that lies in a verdant field instead of a snowy mountainop. Those of you who just need a simple goddamn castle map will finally get your wish! 

Music

All of our music for Falthringor is as diegetic as can be. Each of the four tracks and their variants should sound as though they could realistically be made by Falthringor's inhabitants: hurdy-gurdies, lutes, recorders, and drums are straight out of Eastern European folk traditions. Of course, they're also perfect for scoring your Falthringor adventures. "Wenjansków Eternal" is your classic folk tune. Throw this on as your party arrives at the castle after a frigid trek the snow, or as High Kestrel Mariusz Wenjansk makes bold decrees atop the parapets. This will also likely end up serving as the theme song for your Falthringor adventures.

For less intense and intrusive music, use the "(In the Keep)" variant. Its slower pace and calmer instrumentation will help to ensure you can focus on your game.
