Haley at Sunrise

We were on the beach just as the first light of the day started to break through the clouds. Sunrise light is completely different from evening—it has this softness and quiet energy that feels impossible to recreate any other time of day.

The horizon was dramatic, with warm tones blending into cooler blues, and the clouds opened up just enough to let the light wrap around Haley. Shooting into that glow gave a natural rim light and separation from the background, while the water reflected all the changing colors of the sky.

What I love most about this set is the timing—it’s that in-between light where it’s bright enough for detail but still soft enough for depth. Every frame feels balanced between calm and powerful, the kind of mood that only exists for a few minutes before the sun climbs higher.

This is the kind of shoot that makes the early alarm worth it.
