A Sword Wolf?! (and revisiting the 'journal' format)

I suddenly have this craving for the ramblings I used to type on dA. I think this is a nostalgic way of bringing back the rare semblance of a process for my doodles - if I'm not lazy haha.

That being said I'm going to give it a shot with:

This sword wolf man. He's like the FF2 weapon master Firion but furr-

Legends say he goes by Triafis1.

I collect a bunch of references before I start a sketch. 3-5 refs is my personal sweet spot.

Once I get something that looks like a sketch done, it's time to refine the lines. During this point, I'd pepper a few details here and there. It teeters between 'yeah, it totally makes sense' and 'I have no idea what I'm doing'! Ok-

It's onto colouring. I wanted to portray this weapon wolf lord like one of the trainer portraits from a really ancient/obscure ARPG (Dragon Slayer II - Xanadu). I cheated and used the remake though, since I love the vibrant colours. How old is it? 29 years old, what the FUC-

After recovering from the realisation that remakes can be old too, I discovered that the grey tones on the lupo didn't work as well with the background I wanted to slap on. So from this point onwards, it was adjusting colours and any last minute tweaking.

And presto! Finito! Comprete!
