“How many times have I told you not to waste time petting the cats!?” The owner of the local private pet shelter, Karen Marshall, snapped at one of her employees. “And get that preposterous idea of adopting a pet out of your head! Your time needs to be spent looking after the animals here, not animals at home!”

“I-I’m sorry Ms. Marshall, but part of f-fulfilling these pets’ needs involves-” Nina began, but was cut off by her boss.

“We give them food, we give them water, and we clean up their shit. We meet their needs just fine!” Karen folded her arms and glared at Nina menacingly.

“I… W-well, you see, if we had more hands on deck around here to help out-” Tears were glistening in Nina’s eyes.

“Tch, not this shit again…” Karen scoffed. “If you want to pay their salaries and cover their benefits, then by all means, be my guest. But don’t make it my problem!”

At this, Nina simply winced and left her boss’ office. The sound of a few barking dogs echoed through the halls, but were blocked out again once the soundproof door swung shut.

“Ugh…” Karen massaged her temples. “Pets… Tch, what a waste of time. Only thing worse than pets are pet owners… damned fools, the lot of them.”

When Karen turned back to her work, she found a strange new book had appeared on her desk. It was a simple leather-bound tome with the title “How To Care For Your Succpet”.

“What in the seven hells is this?” Karen muttered, picked up the book, and rapidly flipped through the pages for images. Strangely enough, there wasn’t a single photo or illustration of said ‘succpet’ in the entire book. “The fuck is a ‘succpet’?”

Deciding to skim through the book out of curiosity, the capitalistic woman began with a chapter titled Succpet Exercise: Walking, Running, and Playing.

‘Like many domestic quadrupeds, succpets require daily exercise. This not only helps our adorable little succfriends maintain healthy musculature and cardiovascular systems, but is also fun! 

‘As with any pet, succpet energy levels vary from individual to individual. Some are energetic little balls of energy, while others prefer to nap and snuggle. Regardless though, every succpet needs playful love and attention catered to their own lifestyles.’

“Alright… But what is a succpet?”

Unbeknownst to her, Karen’s spine had subtly shifted as she read such that she was no longer designed for standing upright. Without even realising it, she was now leaning forward and had to use one hand to hold herself up against the desk.

The first signs of drowsiness started to creep into Karen’s mind, but her curiosity was far too strong to rest now; she could curl up in bed later. For now, she moved on to another chapter, titled Succpet Butts: Nature’s Greatest Pillows.

‘One of the most visually striking aspects of domestic succpets are their spectacularly large rumps. Beautiful, soft, and incredibly cuddly, succpets’ massive glutes can be enjoyable for both themselves and their owner(s).

While reading, Karen’s glutes had begun to gradually inflate to larger and larger magnitudes. Even by the time they were the size of watermelons, they were still showing no signs of stopping. Along with her posterior, Karen’s thighs were plumping up to proportionately thicker sizes as well, and her hips were widening to accommodate such a drastic transformation. As she started skimming through the next chapter, Social Succpets: Attachment, Pack Bonding, and Nesting, Karen’s butt finally ceased expanding. By now though, each of her gigantic glutes were larger than her torso!

‘Succpets are incredibly social creatures! These lovable darlings have a strong sense of familial connection that goes well beyond other succpets; indeed, they will pack bond to people and even objects with ease.

‘Owners are the obvious first example that comes to mind, but others such as pet sitters and their owners’ friends and family are also commonly bonded to by succpets. Individuals who bond with a succpet become a part of its family, usually for life.

‘But succpets can also pack bond with inanimate objects. Toys are the most common type of item that succpets bond to, especially anthropomorphic plushies or dolls. Succtoys such as dildos are also frequently observed objects of affection for their importance to play time and their role fulfilling succneeds. It is not unheard of for more mundane objects like blankets and pillows to become so emotionally important to a succpet that it bonds with them.

“O… Owner…? Ugh, get to the descrip-! D-desc… Desk… -to the showy part already!” Karen shook her head and slammed a fist against her desk, causing a dildo to fall over onto the book - a dildo that was certainly not there moments prior. Not even registering that something was wrong, Karen absentmindedly grabbed the dildo and stood it back upright on top of her desk. Returning her attention to the book, the next chapter she found herself reading was Caring for Succpet Hooves.

‘Proper maintenance of succpet hooves are essential for the continued wellbeing of our adorable little succfriends. Each fore-hoof’s three toenails require regular trimming and polishing so that succpets can walk, run, and play carefree!

‘Beyond health related hoof care, it is advised to paint succpet hooves fun colours! Human nail paint is safe to apply to succhooves, and is often greatly enjoyed by the succpet itself. Looking cute and pretty can help succpets feel cute and pretty, too! When pack bonded with owners, carers, or other succpets, they typically experience great euphoria when their hooves are painted to match the fingernails or hooves of their packmates. This contributes to the little cuties’ sense of feeling loved and wanted!

‘As for hind-hooves, it is generally best to adorn succpets in footwear suitable to their unique boot-like shape when exercising outdoors. Their heels can crack or even break off under certain circumstances, which can cause irritation and mild pain. Though it is usually safe for succpets to go barefoot indoors, there is no detriment to constant footwear use (save for cleaning time, of course).'

“‘Boot-like shape’? What does that even mean? Wh-what’s a… boot…? Nnng, why do hoof- feet! Why do feet feel funny?”

Little did Karen know that her feet were being reshaped! The toes on each of her feet melted together into one pointy tip, and her heels grew tall and thin; her feet had turned into living high-heeled boots! Her footwear, meanwhile, warped along with her feet to perfectly fit their new dimensions.

Her hands, too, were changing. Karen’s pinky and ring fingers fused together, as did her middle and index fingers. Each hand had three stubby fingers with nails that were growing in size and strength. Her nails were painted light blue, which matched Nina’s nail paint! Soon enough, she had two useless hooves on the ends of her arms and could no longer even turn the mysterious book’s pages!

Thankfully for her, the books' pages magically turned all by themselves so that Karen could keep reading another chapter titled Best Bust Cuddles.

Succpets are among the cuddliest beings out there! Not only are they soft and squishy, but they love to be hugged and squeezed as well!

Her mouth was blocking the book from view, but that hardly mattered now. Karen was now fully succpet in body and mind, and couldn’t read if she even wanted to.

It was then that Nina carefully opened the door and slid inside. “Um, b-boss, I- Huh? What the-!?” The confusion Nina immediately felt at the sight before her gradually faded as the reality changes began to catch up with her. “Boss?”

At that, Karen got up from her lil bed and excitedly puckered her lips. She spun in place a couple times before displaying her massive butt towards Nina and looked over her shoulder in anticipation.

“Nnng-! M-my… head…” Nina gripped her hair tight as intense vertigo washed through her mind. Everything in this room felt both familiar and completely out of place, as if two realities were overlapping with each other. “Your… office? Kennel…? Nnng…”

Eventually, everything returned to normal: Nina’s vertigo passed, and she was ready to attend to the cute little succpet named Karen in its kennel at the community-run animal shelter - everything was just as it had always been.

The magic book then faded from existence, leaving the world it had subtly altered.

“Today’s the day, Karen! I’m finally adopting you!” Nina said excitedly as she walked up to the succpet, sat beside it, and rested her head on its giant glutes. “I’m taking you home, lil succfriend! But first… a little nap won’t hurt~”
