I've finally begun solid, tangible work on my queer erotic comedy/mystery novel beyond just notes and ideas!
The cover art is just concept art really, and the floor plan is for my own reference as I write the story. I'll probably do up a proper, clean floor plan to add to the novel for the readers' sake too.
The refined premise: A rich vampire sends out an open invitation, stating any and all humans who can spend a night in her "haunted" mansion will win a reward. Unbeknownst to each other, all the guests are monsterfolk (or otherwise non-human) posing as humans in hopes of getting the reward - but they all struggle to hide their non-human aspects. The vampire can quickly tell none of them are human (but keeps that to herself so that they continue to - amusingly - hide their true identities), and decides to raise the stakes: they either play a murder party game or walk away with no prize. If the killer is caught, the rest get a share of the prize. If the killer isn't determined by sunrise, they alone get the prize in its entirety. Since the vampire knows none of them are human, she leaves a clue saying the murderer was a monster, so they all have extra incentive to hide their inhuman aspects from each other. And of course, the guests are all disaster queers who very quickly begin to take an interest in each other!
The protagonist, Gaye Transistor (it is supposed to be a campy, silly name), is a hologram woman whose programming is gradually being corrupted (and not in the sexy way). She needs the prize money to get her software fixed properly before she glitches out and fades away entirely.
I'm still undecided on a placeholder title...
Now you may ask "why not just wait until you've finished writing to draw a cover and pick a title?" The answer is because I'm monetising this as I write it. I need an interesting title and cover to catch people's interest and help convince them to join at a high enough tier to gain access to my chapter WIPs as I write them. They don't need to be a final cover or title, but they need to be good enough to help me make some money while I write this. The cover art and the first couple chapters will be freely available to hopefully catch and keep their attention, but after that, all the chapter WIPs will be patreon exclusive.
Anyway, I'm mainly posting this to give you all something to show I'm still working on stuff. I'm taking a break from commissions for a bit to get this project underway, and it will take some time, so please bear with me! Thank you!
