Art Theft

It has come to my attention that at least one person has been uploading some of the high resolution, Patreon exclusives, and a few homemade variants, to Deviantart and I am very disappointed.

It's one thing to modify or reupload the publicly available images with the watermark, but stealing and publicly uploading the patron exclusives doesn't just hurt me and what little income I'm making on patreon, but is also an affront to the other patrons who abide by the rules and generously support me every month.

While I appreciate that the user did give credit to me as the original artist, I specify on all patreon exclusives that they are "for patron use only, not for public distribution."

This isn't the same as showing some of your mates in a discord (unless it's your mates that are doing the reuploading, in which case please stop them!) and while this was probably bound to happen eventually, that doesn't mean I can give it a pass.

I have contacted deviantart about the issue, and I would ask that if any of you see any more of the Patron exclusives in the wild, to please let me know.

As always, I appreciate all of your enthusiasm and support!

I'm proud that I was raised well enough that I don't see the appeal. XD

Yeah, that was actually one of the things that I was really frustrated with; I had to fill out a DMCA request form for about 20 different pieces so when all was said and done that was an hour I could have used doing other things just gone. :/

Art theft really is a problem nowadays.

Yeah, it's a bummer that someone's actions will hurt the artist (you) but also force the artist to make countermeasures to combat the art theft. Another artist I support has been forced to censor his early-access art and will only give it uncensored if you directly message him. He will post it uncensored in Patreon after publicly posting the artwork. Still, the point is that art theft forces artists on things they should not focus on, and that time could be used to make more art instead of trying to prevent theft.
