So this is probebly the least accurate episode of the whole show, and it's no fault of the writers. Blithe actually lived through the war and was actually an amazing soldier. The reason he is killed in the show is because Easy company members who were close to him, lost track of him through the war and thought he did die. As it was written in the band of Brothers book. It was never corrected in the book later. No fault of the writers of the show for getting it wrong. At the end of the day, this episode still shows a very accurate representation of PTSD before it was a known thing. People in this episode had no idea what was wrong. But traumatic blindness is a very real thing where your mind shuts donw to protect itself from what you are seeing.
