Patreons please read! (I'd like your opinions)

So, I will try to keep this short and sweet (although there is a lot I could unpack about my life and the things I've been through this year).

I know that I am not producing PB pages as quickly as I (and you probably) would like me too. There's a number of reasons why, but what I want to focus on mainly is how to fix it for you. Particularly, if it is fixable at all.

If i'm being completely honest, I HAVE lost a lot of interest in PB, unfortunately, and think that it has to do with multiple things (The comic has been going on for almost 4 years, the style of pages is hard to work with, I'm ambitious to do other things, ect). THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT I AM GOING TO STOP UPDATING. Please don't think this is me asking you permission to quit, because I dont WANT to quit on PB.

I love Luca and Drew and PB has been the most successful webcomic of mine to date. Hell, I've even had people cosplay from it! But its become pulling teeth for me and what I want to do is make sure YOU guys are getting content that makes you happy, while also making me happy.

I am still going to update PB once a week, but... I would like to start planning another webcomic project along with it. I considered doing this totally in the dark and not telling anyone about it, (until I was ready to start posting and had a slew of pages stocked up) BUT, i think as patreons you deserve to see whats cooking in my brain. I shared Beau and Sage with you before the book was published (Friendly reminder to go read it!) and I'd like to share whatever the future holds too.

I guess my question to you, is if youd rather see all the potential new ideas (characters design, illustrations, maybe even thumbnail sketches of new comic pages???) than not. Which might seem silly, but I know how attached a lot of you are to PB and it might be sad for you to know that, mentally, I've moved beyond it. I've been updating once a week for basically this entire year despite how little I want to work on it, so i'm fairly certain I can keep the same schedule.

I hope this all makes sense lol. Idk. Its hard to put into words how I feel, when this year has continued to drag me through the mud and I can barely keep my feet under me.

Would you guys be excited for a new comic if I was to let you see it before its regularly posting??? Would you guys be excited to watch me fumble behind the scenes? Or should I keep that mess to myself lol.

I'd love to know how you guys are feeling, and how (you think) I could give more to you while also making myself happy.

Thank you again. I know not all of you know me on a personal level, but you've been here for me through some of the worst things that have happened (Like what the fuck, lol, just a week ago I was in a car accident and they totaled my vehicle and i've been dealing with THAT. On top of losing my home in a fire, replacing my belongings, getting my wisdom teeth pulled, working fulltime at the hospital through this pandemic, ect ect ect).

I'll apologize for my transparency. ^^^^ This year has sucked.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed both books of mine! ♡ If you haven't already, do you think you could leave me a review on Amazon? It really helps the book move up in their charts and hopefully gets more people attention.

I'm enjoying all the new content. I read Honorable Discharge and then went back and read the Maple Effect novel (I'd only read the comic version previously). I really enjoyed both, and I'm excited to see what else you're working on!

I love seeing all the different work you do! I love PB of course but I know having your creativity flow is just as important as keeping up with your normal work. Do what you gotta do All of your art is amazing! <3

I do have the ending. Its all planned out. And for now I would like to continue working in it, but just.... at the mercy of letting creativity flow in other areas too

How far into the story arc of PB are we? I am loving the story as it plays out, do you have everything basically scripted out to the end, or letting it form as you go? Ya, having a couple weeks/month of comic time take up @4 years of weekly updates would test your interest. Hope we get to read the ending :-)

You gotta do what you gotta do :) I don’t care what it is, I always love your content.

Whatever new content that I come up with I will happily give to you guys, so long as you are interested in seeing it! :)

I definitely don't want to totally stop PB. I am having trouble staying motivated with it, and im not sure what the answer is yet... but dont worry. I havent given up. I know how much this comic is loved and I'd hate to not finish it! Thank you for your kind words <3

About your new comic plans: you rly went and said "oops all bangers" with literally all the content you put out (just go ahead and flex on us i guess) I must say I'm an absolute SUCKER for behind the scenes content. I love character profiles and spin off stories and "look at how much this character changed through all the drafts" content. I love partaking in the creative process and would greatly enjoy to see the mess as well as the beauty of you creating this new piece. But i also wouldn't mind if you want to tease us with only the scent of the full treat and keep us on the edge of our seats. I always love the content you put out.

Wow so many thoughts! So from a consumer perspective, i personally rly love PB and it's my favorite comic out of all the bangers you've put out. So it definitely is sad to hear ur feeling burnt out with it 🥺👉👈 from a creator perspective, you absolutely have every right to create the content that fulfills you and the goals you make for yourself. It might be beneficial to put it on a back burner for a bit until you feel more motivated about pushing forward or terminating it (i rly hope you don't tho...) Again, i rly love the depth and world building in PB and would love to see more of it, but i don't want you to start developing animosity for it because you feel obligated to continue when ur ready to move on from it. Another alternative if you do decide to let it go is to possibly offer an abridged telling of the rest of the story. I've got so many theories as to what the climax of the story might be and what other things might unfold. But those are my thoughts on PB.

I love PB, but have also liked the slower uploads, gives me a chance to read them along with all the shit 2020 has been throwing my way, a nice little nugget of Luca and Drew, i like the quality over quantity 😊 Re other projects, i vote for showing us everything and anything you wanna share 😁💙 I know 2021 wont magically fix everything the world is going through, but my god im ready for this year to be over 😬

I’m happy to see/read whatever you want to post on patreon. I would also like to see the continuation of PB - perhaps you can continue the story but without full color (except when color is important)? Even if you are bored with the story now, it’s a good idea to finish it so that you can add it to your portfolio.

I would totally love to see new characters and behind the scenes, so go ahead and do what makes you happy (that is also what makes us happy). As much as I love PB, I also think it needs some fresh air, maybe working on other projects will help you find new energy for the old one ;) and also be strong, this year is almost ending, let's hope it will get better soon ❤️

Do what you need to do to keep well. I'd love to see some teasers of what you've planned. Will just serve to make me more hungry. I was pretty thirsty for Honorable Discharge thanks to seeing some pics of Beau and Sage... yummy ones at that XD As for PB, do what you feel is best. I'd like to see it finished, as a fan, but I understand if it's also leaving you feel creatively burnt out or whatever.
