Chapter 3 - 5

Peep the gas prices. It's V important.

As for Kinley and Judas, I just want to say... there's a bit of a give and take happening here. If I was in Kinley's shoes, and my friend suddenly wanted to bring a guy he's known for a few days on vacation with us, I would be LIVID too. Realistically, Fletch is being sort of irrational. But the fact that Kinley basically threw their trust/friendship out the window when he left Fletch behind, it sort of.... vetos him having any power here.

Fletch isn't being malicious wanting Judas to come-- but from Kinley's POV he's gonna assume that's what's happening.

Also noteworthy-- what Kinley says to Judas about him "expecting" something in return isn't totally far off, is it? Judas LIKES Fletcher, it would be silly to think he's not "expecting" (or rather hoping) something will happen between them.

Another tricky scene to balance for me and Rowdy. But I'm happy with how it's turned out.

Double asshole

Christine Schorr

This is what I was talking about by saying Judas is a tough chsrscter to write! Because me and Rowdy talked about what the "correct" response from Judas should be in this situation for.... ugh so long LOL. And in the end we just had to decide if it was worth escalating or de-escalating. We decided to make Judas more matter of fact and de-escalate (He's shown this behavior before). But anyway! I digress. Kinley probably deserved to be punched lol

Mccull

Idk how Judas didn't punch him. I wouldn't have been so nice.

You're right on the nose! Kinley is in self destruct mode because he's guilty for sure. He's not even thinking about the damage he's doing to his and Fletchs friendship at this point. He's just pissed.

Mccull

LOVE LOVE LOVE that last panel of Judas. It says so much :) Fletcher has every right to be salty and most of Kinley's anger stems from his guilt I'm guessing.

Sharon Stogner

Kinley is actually gonna be an interesting character in this story. Hold on to your hat! Gonna be a ride!

Thank you so much <3 <3 <3 There's so many things that we want to show in this comic, even just outside of the relationships these characters have. We want to show aspects of traveling, of music and culture, sense of humor, the good, bad and messy things that come from how we are raised. We want to show love and self growth! The list goes on! But I am so happy to hear that you appreciate the whole narrative right now. I worry that younger readers wont understand the importance of Kinley later on, and will get bored if the comic isn't totally focused on Judas/Fletch romance at all times. :) I guess what I'm saying is... its important to me that readers fall in love with this comic on multiple levels, not just on a BL level.

I can totally see all sides of the story here. I honestly don't think Kinley is overreacting much here given his limited perspective. But Kinley also doesn't get much say since he hasn't been the greatest friend as of late. As much as I think Judas' mysterious background and enigmatic nature are a strong pull and focus of interest for this comic, I really think the complex and nuanced history between Fletch and Kinley is really what's doing the heavy lifting, at least for me. I am absolutely obsessed with their dynamic and eager to learn about their early friendship and see more of Kinely's perspective. I'm so satisfied with the pacing and narrative choices you've both been making with this story and will eagerly await the next update.

Kaila Respicio

Absolutely. as it turns out sometimes it only takes a change of mindset (or an eye opening weekend in New Orleans) to grow a pair of cojones. Fletch is doing good standing up for himself :) and also yeah-- Judas would never feel entitled to Fletch or be pushy or anything like that. But he is a bit impulsive ! Hence the snap decision to come alone

Mccull

Petrol prices do be that expensive rn tho. I know that comes from a place of Kinley not trusting this random stranger who just chased them down on the roadb but I'm sure Judas isn't the type to force himself on people. They do like each other. I wonder how Kinley would react to that relationship growing. Ultimately tho Fletch is old enough to make his own decisions now. He's not as timid as he was at the start. He'd have backed down for sure.

Quadrant

He definitely cant LOL

Mccull

AWww hahaha. Autocorrected Kinley to Lonely thats funny. X) but you're right, there are GOOD aspects of Kinley, we're only just catching a glimpse of them here, but I want people to be open in the future! He's got his own character arc to go through too

Mccull

Riiiight. This is totally needed LOL

Mccull

As helpful and caring Kinley thinks he’s being, he’s not. Let fletch live cant he see he’s happy.

Kiss

I do get Kinley — Fletch is important to him and he does care about him. Was he a good friend lately? Absolutely no, and his feelings don’t make up for that. I really like the last panel when Kinley says that if Judas takes advantage of Fletch, then Kinley will deal with him. It shows the better parts of Kinley and Fletch’s friendship; from Kinley’s perspective this (over?)protectiveness really makes sense. I’m pretty sure that Judas openly showing Fletch his feelings will be seen as “taking advantage of” his precious friend (towards whom I’m sure he has complicated feelings) by Kinley. Sidenote: my phone wanted to change Kinley to Lonely, and it fits his recent scenes so much, haha.

Yunice Lennar

When Kinley said Judas did "charity work" for someone running late, I really wanted to smack him (Kinley) upside the head 😤 .. other than that, I can see from both sides and where they're coming from in terms of why they are upset. I think every one needs to just separate for a minute and sit down and take a breather haha

Kaitlinnn

XD LOL

Mccull

Heyo!! Hope y’all’re havin’ a great week. Judas: You tell ‘em! Fletch: Good choice! Kinley: Yer too protective & jealous! Hump ‘n Pump: Lower your gas prices!
