Added 2022-11-02 02:30:01 +0000 UTCOne thing I try NOT to do with this comic in particular, is explain the feelings and motives behind what a character is thinking in the comments here on patreon. Basically... I feel like if I don't HAVE to explain anything, then you're getting all the information from the art and story itself--which is always the best case scenario!
However I want to put this train of thought in your head because it's noteworthy whether you pick it up from the context of the panels or not...
Imagine the whirlwind of emotions that Judas must be feeling during this conversation-- Imagine how PROUD he must be of his siblings to know that they inspire people like Fletch. Imagine how hard it must be for him to keep a straight face when Fletch says "They get a lot of hate because...". Imagine how much he'd like to think that HE, as a big brother, helped give them the tools to be successful in their careers, and played a role in their fame. And imagine, all at the same time... how sad he must be, to feel like he can't tell the truth about (whatever it is he's hiding from us).
There's a lot to unpack in Judas head here... and I guess I feel like this update doesn't really focus on that (My intention with this update WASN'T to focus on these things, although I wonder if maybe I should have...) -- BUT, regardless, there will be more time in future updates to really dig deeper. So... for now I guess just enjoy!
Of course I had to top everything off with a little humor-- Fletch is so easily derailed by Judas' flirting with him, it's a miracle he's managed to question the connection between Les Lavelles and the Western Bar this far.
Next update will surprise you guys! I know it will!

More of a case of show don't tell usually with characters but idk. The thoughts kinda fit this scene. Judas seems to understand what Fletch means. I don't think he really hates the band, just hates he's not in it and having the same success.... for whatever reason that is. Disagreements over whether Vance or him should be the lead singer or idk music direction or something 😆

Judas is in for it with this one... the tangle of traveling with a bunch of fans and trying to remain aloof is.... going to be a ride 😆 It's funny, Judas had ALWAYS been a little hard to read on the outside. Even for Rowdy and I behind the scenes, especially in the early days of the comic... we found ourselves scratching out head wondering what Judas would do or say next. He can be a bit mysterious like that!

2022-11-02 03:36:55 +0000 UTCFletcher, sweet boy, keep it together. 🤣 I do have to wonder about what goes on in Judas’ head during these conversations. Fletcher you can generally read like a book. XD But it is hard to tell what Judas is thinking, especially when we don’t know what exactly happened. It’s got to be weird that this guy he’s crushing on is so into his siblings’ band, but I have to think there’s some relief to hear it’s not… somehow superficial? (Like I dunno what would be considered superficial for being a fan of a band; maybe just being into them because they’re popular or the lead singer is hot maybe? I don’t know every word to every song or the deep, personal, intimate lives of my favorite bands/artists, but I would not consider my fandom/love of their music superficial.) But it also confirms it’s not a creepy kind of fan-boying. He follows them out of genuine adoration and respect for them and for their music, and he clearly appreciates who they are, or at the least who they present themselves as to the world, which he believes is their true selves. And Fletch is just *so* sincere and sweet. Also gives us a pretty good look at Fletcher. If he cares about something, he puts his whole heart into it. That comes out loud and clear as he talks about the band and what he likes about them. I am very curious how that eventual conversation will go, and how Fletcher will react. I’m sure in part it depends on whether Judas tells him or someone else does…
