2023-03-19 Rowdy blog!

(This is a blog update! But a little different because Rowdy wanted to do the bulk of it! Please read his sentiments!)

Heyo! Long time no see, everyone! My major work crunch has finally come to an end and I’m scathed, but alive. Y’all would probably be surprised by what I do in my non-Rowdy life 😊. Now, I’m picking up whatever regular life pieces I left dangling before I take my trip to see Mccull in 8 days! With the 2-year anniversary (It's 3/26!) of TLLT upcoming, I asked Mccull if I could write a little something. Against her better judgment, she agreed, so here goes!

Thank Yous

First off, I want to give a deep, heartfelt thank you to every one of you, past and present, who support Mccull – whether it be monetary or not. She is one of my closest friends, as you all know, and I want her to achieve all she can with her storytelling. Second, I wanted to thank every one of you for all of your comments, feedback, kindness and fun! When I started editing for her two years ago, I never dreamed I would have an opportunity to edit a webcomic. Hell, it was never a life aspiration of mine. Little did I know, it was the kind of creative outlet I never knew I needed, something to counterbalance my normal life. It is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. A major part of the reward is reading your comments (yes - I almost always read them all) and seeing how y’all’re engaging with this story. It makes me happy. It helps uplift me when I’m not succeeding the way I’d like IRL.

Fun fact – when I was in 3rd grade, every Monday we needed to come up with a story using the new spelling words for the week. I loved doing this and would often write 2-3 pages or more. At the end of the year, the teacher said that I might become a writer in my future. So, maybe this was in my blood. Whether or not I’m actually good at it is irrelevant ha-ha.

My role as Editor

Y’all noticed how well Mccull did without me while I was in the depths of work. I helped with a couple of things here and there, like some ideation, but she was pretty much flying solo. I kept up with reading the comic, and once my work was done, I was fully convinced she didn’t need me anymore. We discussed this, and she said that she still wants me to continue being part of the comic, adding some “Lagniappe”, grammar fixes, etc. like I’ve been doing. I was overjoyed, because I really didn’t want to stop editing 😊, but I also didn’t want her to feel like she was stuck with me either. So, my normal editing duties will resume starting in April.

The Kickstarter

Thank you to everyone who could contribute! It was over 300% funded and it was truly humbling. Part of my trip to see Mccull will be to sign book copies. I’m looking forward to it, but my wrist isn’t.

The Future

I’m so excited for where this comic will go in the near future and beyond. Mccull has really crafted a well-woven tapestry, where everything ties together. Once all is said and done, I think everyone will have fun re-reading just to see all the hints that were dropped along the way of what might happen 😉.

One of the major goals I have for Mccull is for her to grow her Patreon even further, in hopes that she may one day be able to sustain herself just on her artwork and storytelling. She is fortunate enough to have a job where she can double dip with her art, but the hours she works are inhuman. Towards getting her there, I’m hoping that y’all can keep spreading the word about TLLT, Honorable Discharge, The Maple Effect, etc. Please continue to comment, with on Patreon and publicly. Please share with your friends. Share updates on your socials. It may not seem like much, but every little bit helps!

Isn't that so sweet of him to write? Not very rowdy if you ask me! Hahaha <3 I know he said it above but you guys really don't know how much we look forward to your support and comments and all that jazz. Update days in particular are the highlight of our week!

 I'll keep my portion brief now -

1st - Since Rowdy is coming on the 28th and staying through the 7th, I will be taking at least one week off from regular updates. I plan on updating on the 26th, and then taking some staycation time. I really do need a break... and I'm not sure if I'm going to continue updating on Sunday's or change to a different day... so, I will probably update you guys later again! 

2nd - If you supported the Kickstarter stay tuned/check your emails towards the end of the month because I will be sending more specific updates there. We're right on track to start shipping physical rewards out at the beginning of the month.

3rd - 10$ patreon pledge rewards will be going out in the mail tomorrow!
