Q&A: Olga Orlova

Character interview. March 2024

Broadcasting straight from the swamp green quarters of the local women's prison, today we're asking Olga Orlova your most pressing questions. As usual, you can find the transcript of all the text at the bottom.

Let's get to it.

TRANSCRIPT

VIOLET_GALAXIE asks: Give me one chance Olya PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE P

Aw, kitten… It’s just not meant to be…

9 asks: What was it like being Anya's and Dima's guardian figure? What do you think of them?

Guardian figure… Sounds a bit serious, don’t you think?

I like having the kids around. They liven things up. Though, leaving them home alone is a recipe for disaster.

Oh, actually. Have they burnt the apartment down yet? No? Someone’s slacking on the cooking.

CACTUS asks: Would you marry Sergei, given the opportunity?

…Well, it’s not like I could refuse.

OLIN’S OLIVE OIL asks: How do you think Sergei is dealing with this whole situation (Nikita's passing, your imprisonment, you taking the blame/saving Yura)?

As best he can. Which is to say, badly.

None of this should be shocking. That’s how this business is - he knows it, we all know it. But I don’t think he ever got accustomed to it all. I don’t think anyone can.

DYMESTL asks: Was Yura worth saving to you?

Well, I decided to do it, didn’t I?

Just don’t misunderstand. It’s not all about the boy. How do I put this… Not having to face the world - it’s a very big privilege.

OMG I MADE THE OLYA INTERVIEW HI MOM HI OLGA I LOV asks: What was your first trip to the zone like? What's your opinion on it now? Like do you have any philosophies regarding its nature…

Don’t you like loaded questions. And loaded names.

The Zone… It was nothing like I’d expected. Though, I’m not sure what I expected in the first place. Some say it’s like witnessing God, but that’s a bit pompous. Wasn’t what I felt, in any case. It felt more like closing your ears from all of the world’s noise. I wasn’t sure what Kolya meant before we went, but I understood then.

I think Sergei felt it, too. He was always very different in the Zone, you know. I remember that surprised me a lot. I wonder if it’s more intense for those that have the Talent. Must be less quiet, right?

…Ah, but you get used to everything. I could still feel it sometimes, just for a second or two. That sense of ease, I mean. When I went deeper than usual, when I felt alone. But you’re not supposed to break from the group, and groups don’t go where senses like that linger.

It’s good Sergei left when he did. He never felt it fizzle out.
