Snapshot Lewd Shores

After taking hundreds of photos and being very sporty in the alley, the Snapshot guy really deserves a vacation, right?

So it's time to talk about Snapshot: Lewd Shores, a beach trip that will be available for Patreon supporters in September! This won’t be a simple copy of Snapshot in a different setting. It will feature its own unique photo mechanics and gameplay elements.

Right now, I'm planning to make this a separate downloadable file, which brings up a few questions I want to address:

Will it cost anything extra?

No. Every Patreon supporter will get this for free, as if it were simply another update to Snapshot. There will also be a free release on itch.io later on. Everything will work just like with Snapshot.

Will you stop developing Snapshot?

Not at all! The original Snapshot still has top priority and will continue to receive major updates. Including some in September! Lewd Shores will likely receive content updates less frequently, but there are plenty of ideas I want to explore with it that don’t quite fit into the main game.

So why make it a separate version?

The main reason is technical. Snapshot’s file size keeps growing quickly. With the new HD photos, it’s already over 800 MB, and I need to start preparing a separate SD version for itch.io (don’t worry, supporters will always get HD content). Large file sizes hurt visibility, as many users hesitate to download huge games.

Additionally, adding a new region with a ton of extra content, like what I’m planning for Lewd Shores, would impact the main game’s performance. Sure, I can load and unload scenes, but nothing stops you from collecting 500+ photos, which can get heavy. I still have a lot planned for Snapshot’s tokyo theme, and that alone is enough to keep the game growing into challenging dimensions.

Finally, having a separate game entry helps with visibility on itch.io. It avoids confusing new players who might wonder what Snapshot is (“A city? A beach? Both?”). This separation keeps things clearer, and I want to emphasize again: Lewd Shores isn’t just a "reskin" of Snapshot. It will have its own photo styles, mechanics, and unlocks.
